Nowadays, there are so many activities and fun things that it can be hard to pick one and settle on it. However, there are certainly some that stand out from the crowd, and these are the ones that you should try at least once.

Whether it is something you can play on the go or something you can make a night of, these are the most entertaining activities replacing businesses.

Paintball

Paintball has been a fan-favourite amongst young guys and team-builders for years now. It is exciting, high-speed, and while getting hit by a paintball does sting and will leave a bruise, there will be too much adrenaline to notice.

While you should be slightly fit and not be too scared of getting hit, paintball can be fun for most ages. Much younger people shouldn’t play, but it is a great activity to get the blood going and let off some steam.

Miniature Golf

If you want something a bit more relaxed but still very competitive, miniature golf is easily one of the best activities you can do. The courses and individual holes can be complex or straightforward, and it is a game for the whole family.

You also don’t need any golf experience to play; you don’t have to know how to swing a club. Miniature golf is an excellent activity for the family, friends, or as part of a date night with your loved one.

Bingo

Another relaxed but enjoyable activity is bingo. While bingo has been famously popular with older people, it is still a game that people of any age can enjoy. The excitement that comes with getting the numbers you need or shouting Bingo is hard to match.

Bingo is also very easy to play, and you just need to pay attention to what numbers are being called and mark them off. A lot of bingo halls also sell food and drinks, meaning it’s a brilliant way to spend a few hours.

Batting Cages

Batting cages are becoming more and more popular in the world. While baseball hasn’t spread too far apart from a few countries, smashing a ball into a cage is becoming popular everywhere.

Batting cages allow you to grab a bat and just hit some baseballs. They are thrown to you by a machine, and you can choose how hard or soft you want them thrown. Hitting a baseball is one of the hardest things you can do, but people of all abilities can give it a go, as having the ball thrown softer makes it much easier to hit.

Karaoke

Karaoke has been a popular past-time in Asia for years now, and more and more karaoke bars and clubs are springing up every day. It allows you to live out your rockstar dreams, even if you can’t sing.

What makes karaoke so much fun is that you don’t have to worry about being bad at singing because most people are. You can let loose and sing your favourite track before stepping off the stage and carrying on with your night.

Bowling

Bowling has been a brilliant activity for birthdays, date nights, office outings and everything in between for decades now. It isn’t hard to see why either; it is fun for all ages, can be easy or challenging to play, and has a competitive aspect.

Most bowling alleys allow you to raise the barricades down the side of the lane, meaning you never throw a gutter ball. This enables the game to be enjoyed by people of any skill level, and no one is severely outplayed.

Arcade

The arcade is something that has been dying out for a few years now. Most people remember going with their friends and playing some games of Pac Man or Street Fighter. However, some businesses are bringing them back.

If you look around, you will find many adult arcades now. You can have dinner, a few drinks, and play some games, air hockey, and pinball. These arcades are just as fun as you remember and are probably better now that you can play the games properly.

Axe Throwing

While this is undoubtedly an activity for adults only. Axe throwing is something that has exploded in popularity over the past few years. Simply put, you have a massive, wooden target that you throw axes at.

You are in a range-type environment, meaning there is little to no chance of your axe going off target. There are professionals to help you, and after a while, you will get the hang of it and become an axe-throwing master.

Driving Range

The humble driving range was once seen as a place where golf addicts go hit hundreds of balls for a few hours. Nowadays, with the help of technology, the driving range has gone from a practice area to something far more competitive.

Each flag has a target around it, with each ring having a score attached, and a computer keeps track of where the ball lands and how many points you score. While knowing how to swing a golf club will come in handy, this is still something for your family and friends to all enjoy.

Pottery Cafe’s

On the other side of the action spectrum are pottery cafes. This is where you can create something out of clay, get it baked, and then paint and decorate what you’ve created however you want.

Many of these cafes offer food and drinks, and you can take as long or as little time as you need to create your masterpiece. If you are artsy, or want to try being artsy, this is the place for you.

These are some of the best activities you can do. Whether you want something exciting that gets the adrenaline going, compete against friends, live out some nostalgia, or just pain the new cup you made. There is something for everything, of any change, to enjoy.

Having a beautiful garden is every homeowner’s dream. If you are passionate about landscaping but aren’t quite sure how to go about improving your outdoor area, you should consider investing in a garden shed. If you’ve already tried gardening without having a special shed, you are probably facing a few common problems such as lack of storage space and difficult access to your tools. Garden sheds are becoming more and more popular thanks to their many notable benefits.

Read on to find out why people love garden sheds and how these wooden structures can have a beneficial impact on your lifestyle.

A garden shed will help you organize your tools and equipment

A garden shed, be it small or large, comes in handy when you have a lot of tools and equipment that can’t be stored in the main house. Gardening stuff tends to be a bit messy (although it’s always best to clean your tools after you use them), but still. Rust, dirt, dust are all common issues when it comes to finding a place to store tools that are constantly used outdoors. A gardening shed is a great solution to this problem and you can easily equip it with shelves and cabinets. Another great thing about keeping your tools in a shed is the fact that you can easily prevent your pets and your kids from handling dangerous equipment or different substances such as fertilizer, bleach, paint, solvets, etc.

A storage shed allows you to free up space

If you don’t have a storage shed in your garden you are probably having a difficult time finding a place for hobby-related things, tools, equipment, etc. Bikes, winter sports gear, Christmas decorations, power tools, would free up a lot of space in your home if you kept them all in a garden shed instead of tucked away in every free corner. In addition to that, you’ll finally be able to buy a treadmill or a rowing machine without worrying where you are going to keep it if you stop using it for a while.

Garden sheds are versatile

Are you sure you need your garden shed just to keep your gardening equipment in a safe place? How about using it to store your bikes, your outdoor furniture, or stuff that you can’t really decide if you want to throw away or keep for a while longer. The good news is that garden sheds come in many different shapes and sizes and if you need one to suit several needs, that’s great. With so many different designs and styles available on the market, you’ll surely find the right one. But in addition to being great as extra storage, high-quality garden sheds can also be used as a home office, a garden gym, a summer house, a BBQ hut, and more. Of course, you’d have to spend some money on extra insulation and a heating source if you want to be able to use them year-round, but it’s not impossible.

Garden sheds can be transformed into garden offices

Did we mention how versatile garden sheds can be? Of course, we did. And there’s a good reason for that. Garden sheds can easily be equipped with a roof, floor, and wall insulation and can become something else entirely. If you’re working from home, you might be familiar with how challenging focusing on your tasks can be. When you work from the kitchen table, it’s almost impossible not to become distracted by chores, family members, pets, and guests. Having a private workspace where you can focus on your tasks is very important and if you don’t have an extra room in your home that can become your home office, then you might want to consider moving your desk outside. It has become quite common for people who work from home to transform their sheds into cosy offices, so you’ll find a lot of articles and tutorials online. You can even find garden sheds that were designed specifically as garden offices, which makes the whole process much easier.

Garden sheds are affordable

When you first think of investing in a garden shed, you might feel a bit intimidated by the idea that new buildings are expensive. But that isn’t always the case. Garden sheds are quite affordable, especially if you choose a garden shed kit that you can easily assemble at home if you have some DIY skills. The prices for high-quality garden sheds start at £4,000, which is not much because these structures are extremely useful and also make great investments.

They can boost the value of your property

As mentioned above, garden sheds are good investments. A garden shed can make your property more attractive to potential buyers and it can add to the marketability of the property. A modern shed that is spacious will surely be something that stands out and that will give you an advantage. Sheds are versatile structures that can be used for many different purposes, so each person might need a garden shed for a different thing. This is something that you should consider when investing in a garden shed. A small garden shed can be used as extra storage space which is something that everyone who has a hobby will appreciate. A medium or large garden shed can easily be transformed into a garden office, a hobby room, and even an extra bedroom with a bit of extra work. So, if your budget allows, it might be wise to opt for a larger shed.

Garden sheds are versatile and come in many different shapes and sizes. If you have a small garden, don’t worry, there are plenty of tiny garden sheds that will do the job. If, on the other hand, you have a large outdoor area and your budget allows, you can opt for a large garden shed that can be used for several different things. The perfect garden shed for you is just one click away, so stop overthinking and start shopping!

Scottish Government Minister hopes grants will spur on schemes – unlocking innovation and action which will make cities, towns and neighbourhoods stronger

Minister for Community Wealth Tom Arthur met business leaders in Milngavie as he launched the Scottish Government’s Scotland Loves Local Fund today (Monday, August 9 2021). The fund will be administered by Scotland’s Towns Partnership. Mr Arthur is pictured, right, with Scotland’s Towns Partnership Chief Officer Phil Prentice. Organisations across Renfrewshire and East Renfrewshire have secured a share of £1.5m from the Scotland Loves Local Fund.

Schemes in Paisley, Renfrew, Lochwinnoch, Clarkston, Barrhead and Newton Mairns are among those benefiting from the boost to help revitalise cities, town centres and neighbourhoods (see details in this table / attached PDF).

The Scottish Government fund encourages support for local economies which were impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.

Nationally, it includes help to restore local tourism, make town centres more environmentally friendly and sustainable, support communities to refurbish shop fronts and public spaces ahead of the festive season.

Community Wealth Minister Tom Arthur, who is also the MSP for Renfrewshire South, said: “The Scottish Government is supporting our communities to deliver renewed local prosperity. I hope these grants will help spur on many of the projects which are vital to unlocking the innovation and action which will make our towns and neighbourhoods stronger.

“The Fund provides 50% match funding for local projects between £5,000 and £25,000 and targets funding towards local economies that have been impacted most due to the pandemic, including those in areas with pre‑existing inequality.

“It reinforces our determination to support all our communities as they recover and will help strengthen the vital backing being provided through the Scotland Loves Local marketing campaign and gift card scheme.

“These grants are part of Scottish Government measures to create a fairer, healthier, greener, inclusive and more sustainable economic recovery.”

The Fund has been administered by Scotland’s Towns Partnership (STP), the organisation spearheading Scotland Loves Local with support from the Scottish Government.

STP Chief Officer Phil Prentice said: “Vital work is taking place across Renfrewshire and East Renfrewshire – indeed throughout Scotland – to revitalise and reimagine our communities. There’s real innovation among the projects being supported. I am sure these grants will go a long way to turning these ambitious visions into action, delivering real benefits.”

The Scotland Loves Local campaign urges people to think, choose and spend local to help their communities recover from the impact of coronavirus and build a stronger future.

More details about the Scotland Loves Local campaign can be found at www.lovelocal.scot or by following #ScotlandLovesLocal on social media.

The £10 million Scotland Loves Local programme extends over five years and encourages people to think and choose local first by supporting their businesses and communities.

Natalie-Don-MSP-at-RAMH-November-2021

Natalie Don MSP has praised the efforts of Recovery Across Mental Health (RAMH) staff and volunteers in providing much-needed support for Renfrewshire residents experiencing mental health challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic.

During a meeting with RAMH’s Chief Executive, Stephen McLellan, and recently appointed Operations Manager, Claire Gallagher, the MSP for Renfrewshire North and West was informed that the charity, which usually supports around 7,5000 people across Renfrewshire and East Renfrewshire in their recovery from mental ill health each year, saw an increase of 10 per cent in the number of individuals contacting the organisation during the last 18 months.

Stephen McLellan, Manager of RAMH, said: “We were pleased to speak with Natalie Don MSP to highlight the valuable one-to-one support we are providing to people throughout Renfrewshire during the pandemic – including to many individuals who were previously not known to Renfrewshire Health and Social Care Partnership’s Adult Community Mental Health Team.

“Unsurprisingly, we have been contacted by an increasing number of Renfrewshire residents who are experiencing COVID-19 related anxiety both in terms of the social isolation being suffered during times of restrictions as well as concerns relating to the prospects or reality of unemployment and debt issues.

“Anyone in Renfrewshire aged 16 or over who is experiencing a crisis in their mental health can reach out on an anonymous basis to our FIRST Crisis service which operates out of hours and offers essential personalised support.”

Natalie Don MSP said: “It’s vitally important that we all look after our mental health as much as we can and don’t hesitate to reach out for confidential support offered by dedicated services such as those run by RAMH.

“Through correspondence and conversations with my constituents, I am acutely aware of the range of difficulties and everyday challenges facing a lot of local people during the COVID-19 pandemic and offer RAMH staff and volunteers my heartfelt gratitude for making themselves available to provide life enhancing person-centred support to residents across Renfrewshire.

“I encourage anyone struggling with their mental health to make immediate contact with RAMH’s FIRST Crisis service and give the charity’s trained staff and volunteers the opportunity to gently talk you through steps which can help improve your wellbeing and recovery.”

Renfrewshire residents can contact RAMH’s FIRST Crisis service between 9am-8pm Monday-Friday or 9am-5pm Saturday-Sunday on freephone: 0800 221 8929 (or standard rate 0141 848 9090) seven days a week, 365 days a year.

The COP26 summit is almost over and it’s been great to see all nations come together to talk about climate change. Moreover, on a more localised level individual businesses are rethinking their working operations to find more environmentally friendly processes that are sustainable in the long term.

When we think about the environment and how plants are beneficial to the earth’s atmosphere we tend to think about rainforests and the exchange of gases occurring with trees. Did you know that grasses also play a substantial part in this too? An area of around 500 square metres produces as much oxygen as two 100 foot trees! And it doesn’t take as long to grow 500 square metres of grass as it does for a tree to grow 100 foot. An area of approximately 70 square metres can provide the amount of oxygen required by an average hum in a day. That’s not all – part of this gas exchange is the absorption of carbon dioxide – lawn grasses absorb an unexpectedly high volume of carbon dioxide daily!

Grass also plays a massive part in nature’s water filtration system. It is not only pollution and gases that are trapped in the blades, enormous quantities of dust and other particles are trapped and filtered through the grass. It is essentially self-cleaning due to the addition of mycelium, a type of fungus. Mycelium helps to absorb dead cells and nutrients and can sometimes be seen on the end of grass as little white threads. This is a sign of healthy grass, and it is essential to stop a thick layer of dead thatch forming.

Rukeri, a brand of Salt and Grit Solutions Ltd are turf growers based in Paisley who cut turf from their own fields to provide grass for commercial and residential lawn areas. Once all turf has been used up from one field the ground is ploughed and rotovated before it is reseeded, and another field of turf is grown.  This cycle is kept going – growing and supplying turf for use elsewhere. As a result of this many householders and public areas alike benefit from a lovely green grass lawn. So, you could say that Rukeri are playing apart in helping the environment too!

It wont stop there for Rukeri though. Like most other businesses the Rukeri team will be reviewing their processes and looking for practical ways to reduce their impact on the wider environment.

If you would like to returf your garden and benefit from a new lawn please visit www.rukeri.com

Christmas is always a busy time of year and an expensive one. Although it is fun to take part in the festivities, come January you might be left worrying about the state of your finances. No one should feel like Christmas has to cost them a small fortune, nor should they feel as though they can’t enjoy the holiday season to the full. So, if you’re worried about how you can afford to indulge in some Christmas cheer this year, here are some top money-saving tips you can use.

Make the Most of Sales

There are always sales going on in the run-up to Christmas, the most popular ones being Black Friday and Cyber Monday. If you want to save some pennies, you should be making the most of these discounts for things like Christmas gifts, decorations, and any other essentials you will need over the festive season. You should also look for websites that offer deals all year round to make even further savings outside of these major sales events.

Be Smart When Buying Gifts

While sales are great ways to save money on gifts, there are other things you can do to make sure you’re sticking to a sensible budget. Homemade gifts can be very personal and well-received, so if you are good at arts and crafts this could be a brilliant way to create gorgeous Christmas presents without spending a fortune. Baked goods and sweet treats can make lovely additional gifts, too. You should also think about how you can combine gifts to save money, too. For example, if you are buying presents for a couple, look at these Christmas gifts for couples rather than getting them individual presents.

Host a Christmas Party at Your House

Another expensive aspect of the festive season is all of the social events that take place around it. Whether it’s your work’s Christmas party or meeting friends and family for drinks and dinner in town, your social calendar can quickly fill up at this time of year. If you don’t want to spend a lot of money during this time, consider hosting a Christmas party at your house instead. This way, you get to see everyone you love and get into the festive spirit, but it’ll be much more cost-effective than going out for dinner. For further savings, ask your guests to bring some wine, soft drinks, or even some party snacks that can be shared so you’re not covering all of the food yourself.

Keep Track of Your Spending

Finally, the best way to make sure you’re saving money this Christmas is by keeping track of your spending. Once you have determined your Christmas budget, use a notebook to jot down everything you have spent so far on gifts, food, decorations, and anything else you are planning to do over this holiday season. Keeping the receipts from everything you have bought or gone through your bank statements will make it easier to keep track of your spending.

Christmas is meant to be a fun and joyful time of year, but it shouldn’t make you worry about your finances. To make sure you’re not overspending this holiday season, make the most of these top tips!

  1. Account

You have to create an account with your personal information to be able to work there. You can complete this account on the MT4 platform. Enter it once it is ready. There are lots of recommendations you can find on your personal page.

  1. MT4 installation

You have to download MetaTrader 4 on the device you want to use. Keep in mind that you can do it after you create an account. Once you download it, log in to your profile. Use the registered profile information you have.

  1. Check around

This platform is incredibly user-friendly. The buttons are visible and signed. All the tools you will use are collected under the Tools sign. Spend some time to check all the windows and instruments available to you.

  1. Open position

You have to open a trading position once you feel that you are ready. If you need more time, don’t rush with it. Follow the next steps:

  1. Press the “Tools” sign on the panel above;
  2. Pick “New order” in the list of options that will open “Order” windows;
  3. You may use F9 on the keyboard;
  4. Choose the settings you need in the order window.

Therefore, the process is not as complicated as you might have thought. Everything you need is in front of you.

  1. Settings from the Order window

There are several factors you can change. They are all significant for your trading success. Pay attention to each of them:

  • Symbol. This is the first section in the window. You can select the market where you want to trade;
  • Volume. Pick the number of contracts you want to trade;
  • Stop loss. This is your safe haven here. It is optional, but it is strongly advised to do, especially if you are new on the market. Decide when you want to close the trade so that you would not lose everything at once. Enter the numbers you need in this section;
  • Take profit. Similar to stop-loss options. This time, you can lock the profit you’ve gained. Once it is there, you can stop all the activity. Enter the desired number so that MT4 can automatically stop the trading on your behalf;
  • Comment. You can make notes about this trade. It might be helpful in the future and contain precious information you may use for your benefit;
  • Type. Decide whether you want to start instant execution in this section. Choose if you want to buy or sell. However, if you prefer to plan everything in advance, you can pick which level is preferable for opening your trade in the “Pending order.”
  1. Instant execution

If you want to start your trade now, you may pick this option. Still, you have to decide whether you want to buy or sell. This is when you need your analytic skills. Decide whether the market is likely to rise in value and pick “buy.” If you think the market might fall soon, press “sell”.

Another thing you have to do is “Enable the maximum deviation from quoted price.” If you don’t want to see your trade rejected, you have to press the button. Put the tick in the box. You might also want to decide on the amount of the maximum pips from the current cost that you can accept.

  1. Pending order

Pending orders are another way to trade. You can pick this option in the Type section. Once you do it, the new window appears. There, you have to choose:

  1. Type. There is a choice between “sell limit,” “buy limit,” “sell stop,” and “buy stop.” Before you pick something, you should understand the difference between these orders.
  2. At price. You have to choose the level of the price to trigger the order. This price is unique for each trading order.
  3. Expiry. Set up the date and time when your order expires. If the desired price is not met, you can choose when the order expires automatically.
  4. Once you pick everything and believe that the conditions are perfect, you can place the order. There is a big blue “Place” button. It will automatically start the procedure once you click it.

8. Monitor position

Don’t go anywhere for too long. This is the market, the place where everything changes quickly. You have to monitor your positions to make sure you are not losing money. Do it by pressing Ctrl+T or picking “View” in the toolbar.

Local MP Gavin Newlands is joining Britain’s train companies in promoting the use of a half price rail discount card to get more jobseekers back on track and into work, as new research shows that journeys made using the card dropped by 20,700 in Scotland since the start of the pandemic, meaning that thousands of jobseekers could be missing out on major savings.

The Jobcentre Plus Travel Discount Card gives holders a 50% discount on journeys across Britain and anyone claiming Jobseekers Allowance or Universal Credit for 3-9 months (18-24 year olds) or 3-12 months (over 25s) can apply through their Work Coach and local Jobcentre Plus.

Meanwhile Scotrail offers additional support in the form of two free return tickets a month to attend interviews and a free season ticket for the first month of a person’s return to work.

The drop in custom reflects a national trend which has seen usage of the card drop by nearly a third in the months March 2020-October 2021 – with over 62% of journeys taken using the card in London and the South East.

Jacqueline Starr, Chief Executive of Rail Delivery Group, said:

“Over 40,000 journeys in Scotland were made during the pandemic by people using the Jobcentre Plus Travel Discount Card, but with the world of work opening back up and new opportunities becoming available, we want to encourage even more people to take advantage as they look to secure new jobs. The railway is a key part of Britain’s clean and fair recovery, and this discount card is yet another way that train companies are helping the country to bounce back.”

Gavin Newlands, MP for Paisley and Renfrewshire North said:

“Applying and interviewing for jobs can be an expensive business, and particularly so when a household depends on the disgracefully low levels of Universal Credit the UK Government have imposed on the poorest in society.

“Every bit of help for jobseekers is welcome, which is why I’m happy to back the Rail Delivery Group in getting the word out about the support on offer.

“Together with the extra help available here in Scotland via Scotrail, there are big savings to be made for people getting back into work, particularly in those first weeks where money is always tight.

“I would urge anyone who thinks they might qualify and benefit to speak to their Jobcentre and make sure they aren’t missing out on these deals.”

Members of Paisley & District u3a are in for a reel musical treat.  Top of the festive bill on Thursday 2 December is guest speaker and conductor, Robert Rocke.  He’s sharing how the Caledonian Fiddle Orchestra is “still going strong 132 years on.”  He will show a 30 minutes video featuring orchestral performances since the 1980’s with a commentary outlining the orchestra’s history.  There will be time to share a few anecdotes and respond to questions.  This free talk from 2-3.30pm will be held in the Salvation Army Hall at Mill Street in Paisley.  Doors open at 1.30pm.

U3a chair, Kathy O’Donnell said: ‘Expect lots of hand clapping and toe tapping as Robert Rocke introduces us to the sounds of music played by fiddlers of all ages.  I’m sure the history of how this longstanding orchestra has developed since1888 will be fascinating.  The Caledonian Fiddle Orchestra recently started doing live rehearsals and playing together after 81 weeks of lockdowns and Zoom practices.  Our u3a can enjoy some of their previous recordings, from Scottish jigs and polkas to strathspeys and waltzes.  This promises to be a popular, lively event and a fun-filled way to end the year.’

Robert Rocke remarked: ‘Everyone remembers events enlivened by Scottish dance music.  The orchestra aims to keep that music available to audiences.’
