YOUNG people are being urged to put themselves forward to become leaders in sport.
Renfrewshire Leisure is looking for five volunteers between the ages of 16 and 25 to become Young Hub Leaders, helping develop sporting activities locally.
Young Hub Leaders come together to discuss how best the community can be served by sporting activity and then take their ideas to the executive committees of the five Sports Hubs in Renfrewshire.
Being a Young Hub Leader can give young people vital experience in leadership, networking, organising events and boost their confidence. Developing these skills can help find a job when they leave school, college or university.
Anyone interested in becoming a Young Hub Leader can apply by sending their CV to yhlrecruitment@outlook.com by March 19. Interviews will then be held on March 25.
Arron Dougan, aged 21, from Glenburn, in Paisley has told how his time as a Young Hub Leader helped him find a job in sport. He now works as a Community Sports Hub Officer and Project Manager in South Ayrshire.
Arron said: “Thanks to Renfrewshire Leisure and the Young Hub Leader programme I was greatly supported through my time at college and university.
“It gave me the relevant experiences to develop my project management skills, communication and networking capabilities, which have proved vital in my route into full time employment in sport.”
David Rose, Renfrewshire Leisure’s Active Schools Club Development Officer said: “We’re looking for committed, organised, confident and positive young people to apply to be Young Hub Leaders.
“They will play a vital role in forming and developing the sporting services in Renfrewshire and be a voice for young people when decisions are made.
“In return, they’ll be able to develop a wide range of skills through the programme that would be an impressive addition to their CV when it comes to finding a job.
