As we enter a new year and a new decade, you may have decided that it’s time to make some changes in your life. You might be seeking an alternative career, want to take up a hobby or are embarking on a new fitness regime. Alternatively, you might be of the opinion that your home is looking a little tired and could do with a refresh.

A recent survey found that 15% of homeowners would rather take on DIY jobs to improve their property than go through the stresses and strains of moving – that’s a five-fold increase from 2013. If you’re happy where you are but think your living space could do with some sprucing up, then there’s more than one way to do this.

Here are just some of the projects you might want to take on:

Tackle the garden

There are few things more satisfying than the feeling of getting out into the fresh air and doing a solid day’s work, and a spot of gardening can allow you to do exactly that. Is your lawn looking overgrown and weed-ridden? Even just a simple cut can transform its appearance, as can pulling up any unwanted plants. The same goes for trimming back that unruly hedge, or painting the fence a vibrant colour. You can also plant some bulbs that will bloom later in the year for a splash of colour. Not only will your outdoor space look neater and revitalised, but you’ll feel the physical and mental benefits of being out of the house and getting your hands dirty too why not hire The Local Tree Expertshttps://www.thelocaltreeexperts.com/.

Renovate the kitchen

Many of us consider the kitchen the most important room in the house – after all, it’s where a lot of us gather to cook, eat and generally spend quality time together as a family. If you’re somebody who falls into that category but feel like your kitchen is looking a little dated, then maybe it’s time for a refresh. It may require some careful budgeting to do so, but upgrading such a focal point can truly transform the feel of your entire property.

Focus on smaller touches

Of course, refreshing your home doesn’t have to be achieved via a large, potentially time-consuming project. Subtle changes can make all the difference – perhaps in the form of a lick of paint, some different light fittings, a newly sanded and varnished wood floor or even some modern pictures or wall hangings. These might only seem like superficial alterations, but when you take a step back and examine the results, you may be pleasantly surprised.
