Generally, drugs are bad, mainly because of how addictive they can be at times, but then how do you explain the steady increase in the consumption of cannabis in the UK.

Statistics from the Home Office Survey carried out in 2016 showed that the use of most drugs began to decline in 1996.

However it found that cannabis was by some distance the most commonly used drug, with 6.5 per cent of adults aged between 16 and 59 smoking in the previous year.

According to Kim at Observer, “Among those aged 16 and 24, weed was also the most popular drug, with 15.8 per cent using it in that same time.”

I believe there is something highly beneficial in the consumption of this drug, be it for medical purposes or recreational. My opinion though isn’t binding on anyone, but the law is.

So…

Is Cannabis Legal In The UK?

It is a fact that possession, growing or distributing cannabis in the UK is illegal. If you are caught with cannabis, you are eligible for a term of 5 years in prison with an unlimited fine.

On the other hand, being convicted of production and supply of the class-B drug comes with up to 14 years imprisonment and an unlimited fine or both.

You can be fined or warned by the police if you are caught with small amounts of cannabis.

But then again, some police forces have taken a relaxed attitude to the recreational drug; this claim is backed by the fact that prosecution for cannabis possession are as low as 15 per cent in Cornwall and Devon, more so, police in Durham have said they will no longer target recreational users at all.

Have You Thought About Medical Cannabis Though?

It is common knowledge that medical cannabis is now legal in the UK, principally because of the announcement of the Home Secretary.

He stated that doctors will be able to prescribe cannabis products to patients from November 1st… it should be noted that according to this statement from Sajid Javid, this rules will be applicable to England, Wales and Scotland.

There are certain specific requirements however for this drug to be considered medicinal, as stated in Sajid Javid’s statement;

The medicine has to be a preparation or product, which contains Cannabis resin, Cannabidiol, or Cannabidiol derivative.
It is produced for medicinal use in humans and is a medicinal product or a substance.
In preparation for use as an ingredient of or in the production of an ingredient of a medicinal product.

Why Cannabidiol?

Cannabidiol, mostly known as CBD is a compound in cannabis that doesn’t get you “high”. This can be contradicted with the THC, which has that peculiar feature, and as such, its inherent consequences. The benefits therefore of CBD weed in the UK can’t be underestimated.

CBD Flower

CBD flowers are what most breeders of the cannabis plant opt for nowadays. It is less stigmatised compared to THC, as it is more or less good propaganda of how beneficial and less risky it is to use CBD flowers in the UK. It also means that those seeking to benefit from cannabis CBD hemp flower in the UK can now smoke or vamp it without the fear of getting high or better still the psychotic effects aligned with the consumption of THC.

CBD Oil

The benefits of cannabidiol (CBD) touches on certain illnesses that if we can be treated of, it comes with much relief. No wonder CBD products are now considered as the Next Big Thing.

The CBD oil is actually extracted from the cannabis plant and then it is diluted with a carrier oil like coconut or hemp seed oil.

It can be useful to relieve pain, helps against anxiety and depression and arthritis pain too.

Is CBD oil legal – When you read the statement of the Home Secretary, you will realise that this oil can actually be prescribed for patients to use and as such will be legally used in the nearest future… or rather now.
