Johnstone Fire Engine Rally is set to attract huge crowds to the town centre when it returns on Saturday 10 August.

Fire engines from days past and present will kick start the fun at 11am, parading from Johnstone Fire Station to Houston Square where there will be a host of activities on offer for all the family until 4pm.

The event is being hosted by Renfrewshire Council in partnership with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service Heritage Trust who will undertake a variety of dramatic demonstrations to give an insight to how they respond to emergencies.

Renfrewshire’s Provost Lorraine Cameron will be in attendance and will welcome all to the event.

Provost Cameron said: “I always look forward to the Fire Engine Rally. It’s a firm family favourite in Johnstone with something for everyone right in the heart of the town.

“Events like this really benefit the local community, bringing visitors in and increasing the footfall to local traders.

“The fire engine parade through the town is always spectacular and I’d encourage everyone to come down and experience it for themselves.”

Ahead of the rally, kids will get to piece together their own fire engine by taking part in the Town Trail. There are 8 puzzle pieces to collect from different shops and businesses across the town, and all participants will be entered in to a special prize draw.

Worksheets for the trail will be available to collect from The Pet Shop (Houston Square, Johnstone) and Johnstone Coffee Co. (71 High Street, Johnstone) from Monday 29 July.
