Women’s World Cup – June (Televised)

You can support the local Scottish girls playing in this year’s Women’s World Cup in France. Matches are televised on BBC and Scotland’s opening game against England was the UK’s most watched women’s football match of all time, with 6.1 million viewers tuning in. A number of the squad play for Glasgow City, so you can support them in their next matches against Japan and Argentina as they look to progress to the next stage.

 

Gangsta Granny :- 9 July at The Hill House, Helensburgh

 

David Walliams’ popular book comes to the theatre and if your kids enjoyed reading any of Walliams’ books then they will love this at the theatre. It is filled with funny jokes and is a great way to get kids into going to the theatre.

 

Liverpool v Napoli :- 28 July at Murrayfield

The Champions League winners host Napoli at Murrayfield, giving Scottish football fans the chance to see Scotland Captain Andy Robertson and his Liverpool team mates play north of the border. The game is part of the club’s preseason fixtures and you will have to be quick to get tickets, as they are selling out fast.

 

Toronto International Film Festival :- 5 – 15 September

 

Film fanatics will recognise Cannes as the ultimate film festival, but Toronto is actually the next most important film festival. So if you are thinking of booking a holiday this summer and have always fancied going to a film festival, TIFF is the perfect place. If you are travelling to Toronto from the UK then you will need to apply for Canada visa for authorisation to travel to Canada. It is very quick and easy to apply for eTA Canada. 

 

Wimbledon Tennis Championships :- 1- 14 July

The famous tennis tournament returns to Wimbledon in London this July, although Scotland’s Andy Murray is still on the road to recovery after hip surgery. There will be plenty of other top tennis stars hoping to take home the trophy though.

 

 

 

Edinburgh Food Festival :- 19 – 28 July

 

Foodies rejoice! The Edinburgh food festival is a must for all those who appreciate Scotland’s fine cuisines and enjoy sampling street food from some of Scotland’s finest restaurants and vendors.

 

The Open Championship – Royal Port Rush, 14 -21 July

 

Golf fans will be looking forward to this year’s British Open as it heads to Northern Ireland this year. The Open is golf’s oldest championship with stars such as Tiger Woods and Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy playing for the Claret Jug.

 

Edinburgh Art Festival :- 25 July – 26 August

Britain’s largest visual art festival takes place in Edinburgh this summer with some exceptional exhibitions celebrating visual arts. Featuring works of both local and international artists, this is a great time to visit Edinburgh for art lovers. Exhibitions from Rosalind Nashashibi and Nicole Farhi’s‘Writing Heads’ sculptures are highlights that should prove to be popular.
