Paisley Pirates play their final match in the West Section of the Stuart Robertson Trophy this Sunday at 5.00pm when they go head to head with Solway Stingrays. They need an unlikely 22 goal margin of victory to catch leaders North Ayr Wild, who have fought out two successive 4-4 draws with Pirates in the last fortnight, but who have a massively superior goal difference.

Pirates face an uphill battle to win by such a margin, but they did manage to beat Kilmarnock Thunder 12-1 last Sunday to show that they are capable of scoring regularly. Head Coach Ian Turley and Coach Adam Walker have been using these games to give players regular ice time but they will nevertheless be looking to give the Pirates’ faithful a big win on Sunday. The goals have been shared around the squad in recent games and it is hoped that this trend continues in the weeks and months to come.

The club is back in the community this weekend as they welcome Renfrewshire Raptors to Braehead Arena. The local American Football team is currently on a recruiting drive for new players and Pirates’ Off Ice Operations Manager Jackie Turley stepped in to offer the club the opportunity to hand out leaflets to spectators at the match on Sunday. She said, “We’re very conscious of our function as a community orientated club and as such we’re delighted to help out a fellow voluntary organisation in the hope they can recruit a few more players to their squad. We’re acutely aware of the need to have a large number of players within our playing squad and it’s therefore great for us to help out where we can.”
