Amanda McMillan, Chief Executive of AGS Airports Ltd, said: “Our position has always been clear that the Scottish Government’s proposed 50% reduction on Air Passenger Duty must be implemented as soon as possible, so we are very disappointed with today’s announcement.

“Not only is the current APD format the highest form of aviation tax in the world, it is also a regressive one which continues to stifle Scotland’s ability to compete in both domestic and international markets.

“In addition to acting as a barrier to growth, APD makes it extremely challenging to maintain vital, existing services in a fiercely competitive global aviation market.

“These challenges are also further compounded by the continued uncertainty surrounding Brexit, and we therefore urge both the Scottish and Westminster governments to work together to quickly find a solution to this issue.”
