Opera Bamba presents: Introducing
The first opera company founded in the west of Scotland since Scottish Opera is putting on a fundraiser with the opera stars of the future.

Opera Bamba, based in Paisley, will be performing in Holy Trinity and St Barnabas in their first event of the year on the 18th of March at 7pm. The event, cleverly entitled “Introducing” will act as a fundraiser for the company’s November production of L’eliser d’amore by Donizette.

The company needs to raise a minimum of £3,000 for their main production to go ahead, with full details for how to buy tickets available at www.operabamba.co.uk/tickets.

The performers include Jessica Hurst (soprano), Claudia Haussmann (soprano), Beth Taylor (mezzo), Alexandra Dinwiddie (mezzo), Andrew Powis (tenor) and Tim Edmundson (Baritone). Collectively these singers have worked with the BBC, Dunedin Consort, Kellie Consort, York Opera and many others, with them all currently enrolled on the Master’s programme at the RCS. You can find out the full details of the cast by going to www.operabamba.co.uk/meet-the-cast.

Company Director Mathew Oliver, himself a twenty-two year old Paisley resident, is hoping to use the concert to raise the profile of the company, and to raise some funds for the main performance of L’elisir d’amore by Donizette. “The standard of talent on show for our first concert is truly among the best we’ve ever seen at Opera Bamba. These singers will go on to sing with the best opera houses around the world, and we’re incredibly fortunate to have them come and sing for us now.”

The change in company structure came after the unfortunate cancellation of their first show, La Boheme, in 2016 due to illness amongst the cast and crew. Since then the management structure has grown with an Artistic Director, Musical Director and interim Outreach Director being appointed to help take the company into the next stage of its life.
