Thomson and First Choice increase capacity from Glasgow Airport and introduce new long haul routes to Sal, Cape Verde

Thomson and First Choice are pleased to announce increased capacity at Glasgow Airport for their winter 2016 flying programme. On sale now, the programme for winter 2016 includes a new route to Sal, Cape Verde and increased capacity to Gran Canaria.

The move to introduce new routes is part of the UK’s leading holiday company’s strategy to ensure customers across the UK can fly from their local airport and stay at the best hotels in some of the most exciting destinations. These new routes are on sale now.

Customers travelling from Glasgow will also have access to some of Thomson and First Choice’s most popular hotels, which include the Melia Dunas Resort and the ClubHotel Riu Funana in Sal, Cape Verde.

The ClubHotel Riu Funana in Sal sits right next to the beach where customers can spend time relaxing under Pergolas or at the hotel beach bar. The two huge lagoon style pools and choice of five restaurants make it perfect for families. Those flying to the Melia Dunas Resort will be able to step straight from one of five pools to the private beach, and can chose from a huge variety of deluxe rooms, suites and family rooms.

Karen Switzer, Director of Aviation Planning for Thomson and First Choice, said: “Adding more choice and flexibility for winter 2016 demonstrates our commitment to Glasgow Airport and the local area. We are pleased to be able to extend our long haul winter offering with the introduction of a new route to Sal, Cape Verde, allowing our customers to experience new destinations and hotels.”

“Expanding access to our portfolio of destinations and hotels is a key part of our overall strategy and will enhance the holiday experience for our customers.”

Paul White, business development manager at Glasgow Airport said: “Cape Verde is a fantastic winter sun destination and we are confident that today’s announcement of a new service for winter 2016 willgenerate a great deal of interest amongst our customers.

“Both Cape Verde and the Canary Islands offer holiday makers a wide range of activities to choose from.  Whether they are interested in golf, shopping, hiking, surfing or simply enjoying the sunshine there really is something for everyone.   We look forward to working in partnership with Thomson and First Choice to continue their growth at Glasgow Airport.”
