Lindsay Littleson is a local author whose first children’s novel, The Mixed-Up Summer of Lily McLean, was the winner of the Kelpies Prize. The novel tells the story of Lily, living with her stressed out family, who starts getting mixed-up warnings not to go on holiday to a tiny, safe Scottish island – her summer just gets weirder and weirder. Lindsay will talk about the writing process and encourage and inspire children to explore their imaginations and write their own stories. This event is suitable for children ages 8 and upwards.

Alan Spence is an award-winning poet and playwright, novelist and short story writer. His most recent books are the novel Night Boat, poetry collectionMorning Glory (with Elizabeth Blackadder) and the play No Nothing which was performed in Glasgow and Aberdeen and imagines poet Edwin Morgan and trade unionist Jimmy Reid meeting up in a kind of afterlife and chewing the fat about life, the universe and post referendum Scotland. Alan will read and discuss extracts from the play and other new work. Refreshments will be served.
