Street Stuff provides evening and weekend activities diverting young people away from possible antisocial behaviour. The programme is a partnership between Renfrewshire Council, St Mirren Football Club, Engage Renfrewshire, Police Scotland and Strathclyde Fire & Rescue.

Since the programme was launched in 2009, reported incidents of youth disorder and antisocial behaviour in Renfrewshire have dropped by 75%.

Councillor Eddie Devine, convener of Renfrewshire Council’s Environmental Policy Board, said: “We introduced Street Stuff dance at St Peter’s Primary School earlier this year and it has proved very popular with up 40 youngsters a night attending.

“The Street Stuff team listen to what the boys and girls tell them about the activities they want, and that’s a big factor in the success of the programme.

“Taking the dance sessions to three more venues across Renfrewshire will mean more and more boys and girls have the opportunity to get active and do something positive with their time.”
