Renfrewshire Council has prepared draft strategies to support the roles of Erskine, Johnstone, Linwood, and Renfrew as thriving town centres that meet the needs of their residents, businesses and visitors.

The draft Centre Strategies explain the role and strengths of each centre, looking at the potential for future enhancement and asking for views on priorities for action and opportunities for change. They are still in draft form and awaiting the views and ideas of residents, businesses and community groups before plans can be agreed and put into action.

Councillor Terry Kelly. Convener of Renfrewshire Council’s Planning and Property Policy Board, said: “This is an exciting opportunity for local people to shape their town centres. We are ambitious for every community in Renfrewshire and have already invested in improvements in all four of these towns. It is important that the people who live and work in Erskine, Johnstone, Linwood and Renfrew can be part of determining the character and continuing success of their town centres.”

Residents, businesses and community groups with an interest in taking part, can find copies of the draft Town Centre Strategies at their local library or at Renfrewshire Council’s Customer Contact Centre, Cotton Street, Paisley. They can also request a copy, get further information, or contribute their views by telephoning 0300 300 0144 or emailing towncentrestrategies@renfrewshire.gov.uk. All strategies are also available online at www.renfrewshire.gov.uk/towncentrestrategies.
