TRIBUTE has been paid to the hard work and dedication of staff at sports and leisure centres locally.

Renfrewshire Leisure’s interim chief executive, Derek Gillespie was speaking after 20 staff were presented with Achievement Awards at a ceremony, in Johnstone Town Hall.

The event was held to mark various achievements by members of the Renfrewshire Leisure team who work in the various sports centres, swimming pools, fitness suites and spa the management trust runs.

Awards and certificates were presented to staff for long service, perfect attendance and gaining new qualifications in the leisure sector.

Mr Gillespie said: “Teamwork is very important in many sports and that’s also what’s needed when you are running an organisation like ours.

“We have a great team delivering the very best sports and leisure activities and facilities to the people of Renfrewshire.

“It’s only right that as an organisation we recognise the achievements of our staff.”

Councillor Jim Harte, who is the chairperson of the board of Renfrewshire Leisure, presented the awards to staff.
