SHOPPERS were yesterday (Friday) given the chance to win a host of prizes by stepping into a giant gumball machine at the intu Braehead shopping centre.

The 16-foot high contraption – dubbed The Big Treat Gumball Machine – will be at the mall’s central atrium between 11am and 5pm today. And it moves to the nearby Soar at intu Braehead leisure destination, tomorrow and Monday.

Thousands of plastic balls have been placed inside the globe of the gumball machine and those taking part in the challenge have to find one of four orange-coloured balls to win a prize.

These range from free cups of coffee and restaurant vouchers, to gift cards worth up to £50 and a wine hamper.
The giant gumball machine launches a series of Big Treat events throughout May, at both the mall and Soar at intu Braehead.

These events are also taking place all over the UK at other intu shopping centres.
These include weekend-long free children’s entertainment and activities including arts and crafts and a Wee Cookies Bakery where kids can become a baker for the afternoon.

Shoppers can also join Britain’s Got Talent star, Edward Reid who is hosting The Big Eat event, which features cookery and cocktail-making demonstrations along with free nibbles, on Friday and Saturday, May 22 and 23.

And there are more prizes to be won with the Big Treat Seat which shoppers are invited to sit on and if the giant chair lights up they’ve been picked as a winner.

The Big Treat Seat will be at the shopping centre between 11am and 5pm on Saturday and Sunday, May 16 and 17 and Soar at intu Braehead on Friday and Saturday, May 22 and 23.

The following day, Sunday, May 24, Soar at intu Braehead has a special guest with Peppa Pig making an appearance to entertain the kids.

Marketing manager for intu Braehead, Lydia Brown said: “We’ve decided to give everyone not just a big treat, but a huge treat.

“For the whole month of May we’ve got some fabulous activities, fun events and prizes for young and old.
“So, we’re inviting everyone to visit us and when they do, they can be sure it will be a real treat!”
