Today, Bank Holiday Monday, 4th May, Thomas Cook Airlines’ inaugural flight of the weekly summer service from Glasgow Airport to Las Vegas departed with over 300 customers on board.   The new service, announced last year, follows a series of one-off flights to the US city in recent summers.  Operating on Mondays on the airlines Airbus A330 fleet, the new flights will continue on selected dates up to the 31stOctober.

In conjunction with Alea Casinos and Glasgow Airport, visitors to the airport and those travelling to Las Vegas were treated to a host of entertainment at check-in, the departure lounge and at the gate, including Rat Pack singers, dancing showgirls and a casino theme throughout.

Christoph Debus, Chief Airlines and Hotels Officer for the Thomas Cook Group said, “It’s fantastic news that we are able to start a regular flight to Las Vegas with such a fantastic event at Glasgow Airport, and we’re looking forward to a successful summer and winter programme to this popular destination.”

Francois Bourienne, commercial director at Glasgow Airport, said, “The launch of direct flights to Las Vegas is fantastic news for Scottish travellers, and it further strengthens our growing long haul route network. This is the first time Scotland has had a regular service to the entertainment capital of the world, and Thomas Cook is already reporting incredibly strong demand from customers for the new route.”

Paul Rety, Venue Director at ALEA Glasgow said, “ALEA Glasgow is part of the World’s largest gaming organisation – Caesars Entertainment – and the only casino in Glasgow with a direct link to Vegas.  The buzz of the entertainment at the airport will hopefully give travellers a taste of what’s already on offer here in the heart of Glasgow before they fly.”
