Renfrewshire Council has announced the appointment of Sandra Black as its next Chief Executive.

Sandra is the current Director of Finance and Corporate Services at the council. She will take up the post of Chief Executive from 1 December.

Councillor Mark Macmillan, Leader of Renfrewshire Council, said: “I’m delighted to announce Sandra’s appointment as the next Chief Executive.

“We interviewed a high-quality selection of candidates and the calibre of applicant for the post reflects well on the strength of our organisation and the level of interest in what we’re striving to achieve here in Renfrewshire.

“We have ambitious plans for Renfrewshire and its people – Sandra was the outstanding candidate to lead the council’s services in making sure that everything possible is done to achieve those ambitions.

Sandra began her local government career with Central Regional Council in 1982 before joining Renfrewshire Council. She has been a director of Renfrewshire Council for the past nine years.

Sandra said: “It’s a tremendous opportunity and a great privilege to be taking up the post of Chief Executive.

“Like others in local government, we face some difficult and complex issues around employability, poverty, inequality, economic regeneration and support for our most vulnerable. I believe that, here in Renfrewshire, we have the vision and values in place to address these issues. The challenge now for our organisation is to work with partners and deliver high-quality public services that make a difference in people’s lives.”
