Kick back for Lorna Reid’s Lounge Session featuring an award-winning line up of jazz musicians

Heralded as ‘one of Scotland’s most talented singer-songwriters’, Edinburgh-born vocalist Lorna Reid makes a welcome return to Paisley Arts Centre, with her top-flight band of musicians.

The performance features classic jazz and blues, plus songs from Lorna’s acclaimed new album Falling Like Dew. Her work has been featured on national radio, at UK festivals, theatre and performed at top London jazz clubs.

Lorna Reid’s Lounge Session

Her quartet includes the unbeatable talents of pianist, Euan Stevenson (Emerging Artist, Scottish Jazz Awards 2013), on saxophone Konrad Wiszniewski (Best Instrumentalist, Scottish Jazz Awards 2013) and Ed Kelly (bass).

The audience is invited to ‘kick back and relax’ at this informal Lounge Session, with songs by great writers such as Rogers & Hart, Gershwin, Cole Porter, Fats Waller plus Lorna’s own material, including her new single My Anchor, which was co-written with songwriter and musician Boo Hewerdine.

Reid said: “In Scotland there isn’t a strong culture of singer-songwriters in the jazz genre, so I am delighted that audiences and critics have warmly received my new material. I love playing a mix of songs by great writers that have inspired me, and my own songs, which cross styles from jazz to blues and Americana.”

What the press say:

“If the totality of the set sounds like anything at all, it is the hugely successful classy retro music of Caro Emerald”
The Herald

“Sultry jazz and blues in her slick vocal style”
Time Out London

“Lorna has proven herself to be a songwriter with an ear for a catchy tune and for penning a knowing lyric”
BBC Radio Scotland
