Local Charity March Off With A Cheque From SPAR Scotland!

CJ Lang and Son Limited, owners and operators of SPAR Scotland, raised more than £70,000 last year for local causes and charities.

The company donated a generous cheque for £1000 to Erskine, the charity has been caring for Scotland’s veterans since 1916.Over the years Erskine have been helping ex-Service men and women with re-building their lives, restoring dignity and providing them with first-class care.

The money was raised through the sale of single-use carrier bags, which costs customers 2p per bag, and was collected and donated to a local charity nominated by the relevant stores. The initiative has been in place since 2008 and has already risen over £300,000 which has been invested directly into the surrounding community.

Erskine Community Fundraiser David McFadden said: “Funds raised from organisations like SPAR are a vital part of our funding and make a direct impact on our ability to make life better for the ex-Service men and women for whom Erskine cares. We want to say a huge thank you to the SPAR and their shoppers from Erskine, Lochwinnoch, Port Glasgow and Thornliebank for their generosity.

Every penny raised will make a real difference to the lives of the 1,100 veterans we care for each year at Erskine.”

Erskine is one of the 32 chosen charities across the country to benefit from the funds raised. Cheques will be donated to various campaigns from youth clubs, sports clubs, elderly care and specialist medical treatment throughout the year.
