Ecotune out perform for Huntington’s disease

Car enthusiasts moved into gear at Ecotune UK in Hillington for a fundraising open day and raised £2500 for the Scottish Huntington’s Association (SHA).

The charity is the only one in the country supporting families with the degenerative brain condition Huntington’s disease (HD).

Ecotune UK – a leading performance and economy vehicle software specialist – teamed up with car enthusiasts group Be Tapp’d to raise funds for the charity.

Around 150 people turned up to test their vehicles on the company’s specialist tuning equipment with all proceeds donated to the SHA

HD is a hereditary progressive condition that causes changes to muscle control, thinking processes and can cause long-term mental health issues. The average age of onset is between 33 and 45 and those living with the condition will require 24 hour care as it progresses into its later stages. Each child of someone diagnosed with HD is at 50% risk of developing the condition themselves. There is no cure.

Stan Ward, Technical Director of Ecotune UK said

‘I was really humbled by the generosity of everyone who came along I have close friends affected by Huntington’s and know the devastating impact it has on families.’

The cheque was presented to fundraising officer Linda Byars.

‘This is fantastic sum that will make a big difference to the support we can offer families in Renfrewshire,’ she said.
