The David Lloyd Glasgow West End Club played host to the competition as Houston came out as winners against schools from North and South Lanarkshire, East Renfrewshire, East and West Dunbartonshire and two teams from from Glasgow.

To get to the final stages of the competition, Houston had qualified ahead of four other Renfrewshire schools in a tightly contested competition held at Strathgryffe Tennis and Squash Club at the end of May.

Primary 3 and 4 pupils made up the team which featured boys and girls.

Councillor James Harte, Convener of Renfrewshire Council’s Sport, Leisure and Culture Policy Board, said: “The standard of play was extremely high and it was a fine achievement for the Houston team to come out on top in Renfrewshire’s first appearance in Regional School Tennis competition.”
