‘Early birds’ urged to sign up now for 10K Road Race and Fun Run

Race organisers Renfrewshire Council are urging people to sign up now for this year’s Paisley 10k Road Race and Fun Run.

‘Early bird’ discounts are available until Saturday 7 June. Discounts are available for club runners, adults, children and those who choose to compete as a team.

Councillor Jim Harte, Convener of Renfrewshire Council’s Sport, Leisure and Culture Board, said: “Last year, there were over 1,500 competitors in the road race with another 300 in the fun run, and the race just keep getting bigger and better.

“The Road Race is popular with serious runners and first-time participants because it’s a flat, fast loop of the west of the town and the town centre. The Fun Run is a 3km dash around the town centre, and even if you don’t fancy running, it’s perfect for a stroll round with family.”

“It’s a great fundraising opportunity as well and, with Paisley being one Scotland’s ‘Heart Towns’, a great chance to raise money for the British Heart Foundation.”

“If you can, sign up now, take advantage of the discounts available and then start training so that you get the most of taking part in this year’s race.”

The popular event, sponsored for the third year by MEPC Hillington Park, will take place on Sunday 31 August.

Runners can sign up online at www.paisley10k.com or pick up a race application form at their local sports centre or library.

Every competitor receives a medal and trophies are awarded to the winner of each age category in the 10k.
