Top of the class care services in Renfrewshire

Renfrewshire Council has been awarded a near perfect score for its care services with 96% of the areas inspected being rated as good, very good or excellent.

The council has 23 services which are monitored by the Care Inspectorate. These include care homes for older adults, children’s homes and services such as fostering and adoption.

All are regularly assessed against the quality of the care and support that they provide, the environment, the staffing and their management and leadership. Each of these four areas is awarded a grade, ranging from unsatisfactory through to excellent.

Councillor Iain McMillan, Convener of Renfrewshire Council’s Community and Family Care Policy Board said, “The Care Inspectorate carries out detailed and rigorous checks on the services that we provide for vulnerable people. Some are pre-planned and some are surprise inspections.

Renfrewshire_Council_ezg_1“What is clear from this regular, objective scrutiny is that our services offer a high level of care. None of the services have been assessed as being either weak or unsatisfactory for the care they provide and prompt action is taken to address any issues raised during inspections.

“The council’s ongoing investment in care facilities, particularly the replacement of Rowanlea with two smaller facilities will build on this excellent performance.”

Montrose Care Home and the Johnstone Day Centre were highly rated in the most recent round of inspections. Montrose Care Home was graded very good for its care and support, staffing and leadership and excellent for its environment while the Johnstone Day Care Centre received very goods across the board.
