Ferguslie Half-time School was one of the finest school buildings to be built in Scotland, sadly this once proud building at Maxwellton now stands derelict. Gutted by fire and further destroyed by gale-force winds, only vestiges of ornate brick and stone walls stand like some ruined Italian palazzo.
The building is in a sorry state and lies abandoned with no sign of investment and half hearted development plans for future use.
One of the paisley.org.uk team was down today to investigate further and take some photos to show our visitors.
Find out more about the history of the Half Time School here. https://www.paisley.org.uk/paisley-history/ferguslie-half-timers-school/
Now the question is ’What can be done, if anything, to save this building?’.
The Building is B listed see this Renfrewshire Council PDF for more information. http://www.renfrewshire.gov.uk/ilwwcm/publishing.nsf/AttachmentsByTitle/pt-lc-ListedBuilding2011.pdf+/$FILE/pt-lc-ListedBuilding2011.pdf
