Paisley Fairtrade Partnership has been named runner up in this year’s Fairtrade Fortnight Awards, in recognition of their Best Cotton activity.

The award, sponsored by the Co-operative Group, celebrates the achievements and creativity of Fairtrade campaigners and supporters during the annual two-week Fairtrade Fortnight campaign, this year held from 28 February – 13 March 2011.
During this time, Paisley Fairtrade Partnership  highlighted the injustices in the production of cotton by hosting a performance of a newly commissioned drama performed by the talented Paisley based Beechwood Women in Arts group called ‘Bless your cotton socks!’

Did you know that Paisley on the web can set up and manage your Social Media marketing and also campaign for you?

We manage quite a lot of organisations’ Twitter, Facebook and newsletter campaigns for them. We can either train a member of your organisation to do the job or we can do it for you and increase your organisation or business profile online. All the proceeds go back into maintaining this website so you’re not only improving your online image and your business, you’re also helping out your community and supporting our website and volunteers.

What can we do?

  • We can target your audience via social media.
  • We will engage with your visitors.
  • We will bring more people and visitors to your website or product.
  • We can also do SEO, Search Engine Optimisation for your website.
  • We can also build websites, host websites and register domain names.

This ultimately catapults your organisation into a market that you wouldn’t have normally and you don’t need to do anything extra, apart from contact us that is!

Training:

We also offer social media training courses and website SEO training courses, if you have a website then you really should be making it work for you to bring in extra volunteers, sell your product or let everyone know who and where you are.

Representatives from Renfrewshire Council and Meur Phàislig have been in Stornoway this week for the Royal National Mòd 2011.

The team have made the trip to the Western Isles to wish this year’s organisers and competitors well and also to give visitors a preview of what they can expect when Paisley hosts the Mòd in 2013.

Paisley MOD 2013Renfrewshire Council Leader Brian Lawson said: “We wish the organisers and all of the competitors well in this year’s Mòd and congratulate them on delivering what is sure to be a successful event.

“The Mòd is a huge, much-loved festival which has brought the focus of Scotland and Gaelic music lovers across the world to Stornoway.  It takes years of planning to achieve this and they have done a fantastic job.”

We are going to do a feel good factor next Friday, is there someone in your community that is doing something that you think is brilliant and you think they should get a little recognition for it? It’s all part of our positive Paisley drive, we see the people of Paisley being the driving force behind change in the town.

We need to know who those people are, so please and remember to make sure it’s alright to print their name or even if we can post a photo of them?

We can do a nice feature next Friday and really give these people a wee thank you back.

You can email myself brian@paisley.org.uk Let’s get the ball rolling…. It could be anyone from a Lolipop woman to a teacher, to an owner of a business, your ideas are most welcome.
