Kersland School has eXcellence factor

Teachers and pupils at Kersland School in Renfrewshire are celebrating after they received excellent marks for everything in an HMIe inspection report published today.

And the independent inspectors are so impressed that they are coming back to learn more about some of the innovative work being done at Kersland so that this best practice can be shared with other schools.

Kersland School in Paisley caters for 70 pupils with severe learning difficulties. Pupils join the school from pre-school centres and may stay until they are 18 years old.

Only two other schools in Scotland have been evaluated as excellent for all of the five quality indicators scrutinised by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Education. The indicators are: improvements in performance, learners’ experiences, meeting learning needs, the curriculum and improvement through self evaluation.

Aly Bain and Phil Cunningam will be hosting an event in Paisley Abbey on Friday the 16th September. Tickets can be booked www.tickets-scotland.com see the following information below on Aly & Phil. or go to their website http://www.philandaly.com/

Aly Bain is Scotland’s supreme traditional style fiddler. His playing is unique – driving, impassioned and pure – with vibrant, unmistakable tone that has earned him a following of ardent fans throughout the world. Born in Lerwick, Shetland in 1946 Aly began playing the fiddle at the age of eleven. In his early twenties, Aly headed to mainland Scotland. His dramatic playing, with great tone and technical ability brought early recognition as an outstanding musician of the folk music revival, and almost overnight, raised the level of expectation for music lovers throughout the country.

The Annual Wallace Day parade which starts from Ludovic Square in Johnstone right up to the William Wallace memorial in Elderslie is always an excellent event in the Renfrewshire Calendar.

Here is a video of the parade which took place on Saturday the 20th of August 2011.

Summer African Cultural Event 2011

Renfrewshire Effort To Empower Minorities (REEM) had organized a fun-filled event  on 19/08/2011 in the Paisley Town Hall. Gates opened at 3p.m till 11p.m.
There was dance and music performances, a fashion show, lots of food and drinks as well as a variety of kids activities such as face painting and a kids dance competition.
Everything was FREE to all. Good to see so many people who attended.

Saints make the trip to Edinburgh to face Hibernian hoping to make amends for last weeks last minute loss. Hugh Murray, Aaron Mooy and Darren McGregor still on the sidelines along with Nigel Hasselbaink who is suspended for this game.
Saints played a midweek closed doors friendly with Hamilton to get the fitness levels up for some of the fringe players which Saints won 4-3 McShane(3) and Carey being the scorers.

2 possible new signings in training with Saints also Chris Doig(ex under 21 internationalist) & Ilias Haddad(ex team mate of our own Jeroen Tesselaar) both hoping to fill the gap that Darren McGregors injury has created.

I must say a huge thanks to everyone who has helped in the last few weeks “and years” to help re-design the Paisley website, which will continue to grow in the coming weeks. The new logo was designed by David Muir of Muir Media http://www.muirmedia.co.uk/ The logo is designed in such a way that we can start using it for social media and will adapt to various sections, colours will change etc.

It incorporates the Paisley Pattern in the S and also the Swans from the River Cart which flows through our town centre. It looks excellent and we will continue to work with David and Muir Media in further projects.

I would thoroughly recommend Muir Media for speed, communication and the final product was exactly what we were looking for.
