Danny Lennon got his wish and must be in the running for manager of the month after his St Mirren side bounced back from a slim defeat last week to come from behind at Easter Road.

Gary O’Connor had put Hibs ahead in the 24th minute with a powerful shot across the St Mirren goal leaving Samson helpless. St Mirren fortunately got back into the match in the 41st minute due to an unfortunate error by Calum Booth. Ex Cardiff and Rangers striker Stephen Thompson slotted the ball home after Jeroen Tesselaar had raced in on goal and slipped the ball into ‘Thommo’s’ path.

Worse was to come for the hosts when Palsson dwelled on the ball and was robbed of possession by Tesselaar who threaded the ball through to the other Thomson running from midfield, who’s finishing was clinical.

Hibs seemed stunned to go in at half time behind and in the 2nd half relied on Ivan Sproule too much. St Mirren continued the game in the second half just as positively as they had finished the first half with Gary Teale pushing up beside Thompson in attack.

The Saints did tire towards the end of the game but Hibs could not capitalise on this and St Mirren return to Paisley with 3 points in the bag which, come end of the season, may prove valuable.

Hibernian 1-2 St Mirren FT (HT 1-2) O’Connor 25; Thompson 42: Thomson 45+1
