Zatoichi is the epic tale of a blind masseur, gambler and swordmaster (what a combo) who wanders around the country, making his living by gambling, singing and giving massages. In Japan, giving massages was a traditional occupation for the blind. Blind persons and masseurs were on the lowest social level, no better than beggars. Unbeknown to those around him though, Zatoichi is also highly-skilled in swordsmanship and is equally talented in Sumo wrestling.

This is a fantastic film, garnering cult status quickly. It doesn’t get much screen time when up against the Hollywood blockbusters, so grab this chance to see it on the big screen.

Please note this film is Certificate 18.

Zatoichi screens on Tuesday 1st June at 7.30pm
