Paisley Patter volunteers

paisley patter

Paisley Patter are looking for anyone willing to volunteer their time for the fabulous Battle of Prestonpans Tapestry Exhibition at Paisley’s Anchor Mill (The Atrium), Thread Street.

We need people who could cover the following shifts:

Wednesday (1st), Thursday (2nd) or Friday (3rd May), 5pm-8pm.  There will be one other volunteer with you so you are not alone.

Sunday 5th May, 1pm – help with dismantling the tapestry and loading it into Arran’s van – some lifting of boxes etc required, (I’m a girl and I managed to do it so no wimping out!)

It’s a fantastic way to get involved in your community and meet new people.

The tapestry is world-famous so having it here in Paisley is a great thing for our town.

Paisley Patter is a project which involves the stitching of the Paisley Panel of The Great Tapestry of Scotland, also the gathering of stories from anyone who has one to tell about Paisley in the 1930s. We meet 1-3pm Wednesdays and Saturdays and you would be made most welcome at any of our meetings. This week’s meetings are at Anchor Mill, Thread Street and after that we meet at the Thread Mill, Seedhill Road.

Contact marie.connelly@hotmail.co.uk for details on any of the above which interests you.

Bad Idea Honours List

Bad Idea Honours List

This was one of the projects that Paisley.org.uk supported to get crowd funded alongside other local business, I am a Captain of the Revolution but two other companies I am associated with have helped beyond means too, please take not only the time to read this press release but what u18.me.uk is all about and why they exist. You can find out more from all the links below but just to say www.paisley.org.uk helped too..

U18

This is from Anthony the project’s inspirational oner and founder:
My apologies for not having this prepared earlier, i was a little distracted with the Bad Idea workshops which began just 96 hours after the crowd-fund campaign closed!

I am delighted to tell you that the pilot workshops were a huge success, but what better way to show you just how successful they were than by inviting you to view all 20 of our budding young entrepreneurs in action:

http://www.bloomvc.com/curator/bad-idea-youth-enterprise-workshops

None of this would have been possible without your generous support and for this i simply cannot put into words my gratitude!

Please follow this link: http://www.u18.me.uk/bad-idea-honours-list/ to the ‘Honours List’ page where you will be immortalised forever as an original supporter of the Bad Idea Youth Enterprise Competition.

Please check the details and let me know of any changes, alterations, links and so on that you want included/removed. I will endeavour to complete this page in the next day or two. I would also like to include a picture of you, your organisation, business or whatever else you wish so please send these to me before i make it public – i still have acknowledgements to include for some people so please dont be annoyed if you’re not listed yet!

I have tons of video content being edited from the workshops and there are still ‘elevator pitches’ being added to the kids’ campaign pages as i write. I will follow-up with the promotional video soon, and would hope you could help share amongst your networks and contacts in the media and press.

If you would like to offer any quotes, blogs, be available for video interviews and so on then please get in touch – the more noise we make the better!

This is just the beginning for Bad Idea, and the next stage of this mission is to scale the project nationally. I cannot do this myself and am calling on you to support in any way you can. The next step is securing a minimum £87,000 for the organisation to put in place our functional digital resource, infrastructure and resources. This project also requires a team of exec and non-execs who can make this the global Revolution it has the potential to be. Access to contacts, networks, individuals and organisations will be key too, so lets get talking, sharing and unite in the fight against the Tyranny of the Status Quo!

Revolutionists, I salute you!

Vive la Revolution!

Anthony

Oh, and get donating to the kids who are raising their funds! 🙂

RBS Community Force Winners

RBS Community force

THANK YOU!

I would just like to thank everybody who voted for Paisley on the Web www.paisley.org.uk in the RBS Community Force Awards 2011.

We can now announce that we have won our category and that we will receive over £6,000 to purchase much needed equipment for the group of volunteers at Paisley on the Web, ensuring that we can attend events and special occasions in the Paisley and Renfrewshire calendar and promote them via our website and social media.

RBS Community forceThe money will also be used to train volunteers who are currently out of work and also our younger volunteers. They will not only be taught how to use the equipment, they will also gain much needed skills for future employment.

We would like to thank not only the volunteers who gave up so much of their time campaigning for this award but their friends and family and every single one of you who voted, not just for Paisley on the web but for every cause in the Paisley area.  This award will help us promote each of the organisations involved to a wider audience and we congratulate each and every one of them.

In our eyes any group or organisation in Paisley which is trying to promote the area has also won. We will be contacting them to see if we can assist in any way in highlighting their group and will use our new equipment to promote them to the best of our ability. I would like to also take this opportunity to thank the Royal Bank of Scotland for this award and can assure them that their contribution to the community and area will be put to best use.

You can find out more about Paisley on the Web and RBS Community Force by visiting this page: http://communityforce.rbs.co.uk/project/208

Best Regards
