Stats for website during Paisley Express article

paisley-abbey-logos

The stats for Thursday when the Paisley Daily Express done their article on the Paisley.org.uk website was substantial especially since the warm weather has been around the stats as they do every year fall a wee bit “and as soon as it rains the stats go back to our normal 14,000 plus each day for visits.

Stats:

Page Views:

28/5/2008 Wednesday 11,984
29/5/2008 Thursday 12,724
30/5/2008 Friday 11,504

The unique visits are normally around the 1,500 mark “that’s new people coming to the website” but as you see this week has been incredible.

26/5/2008 Monday 3,139
27/5/2008 Tuesday 3,554
28/5/2008 Wednesday 3,105
29/5/2008 Thursday 3,108
30/5/2008 Friday 1,901

So as you see the article didn’t make such an impression in one day as I thought it would, however I am sure it is due to the lovely weather we have been having and once the rain returns the stats will break all the current records we currently have on the website so far the unique visits are double that of normal and are well way ahead of current expectations which is amazing..

So once again thanks to all our visitors and if you know anyone who would benefit from advertising on the Paisley website then please put them in touch with us.

Anthony Nolan Trust

anthony nolan

I will be featuring a charitable organisation every month on the Paisley website “nominate yours now” our first one is one that I am a donor for it is the Anthony Nolan Trust, I have been on their donor books now for about 5 years and it only took a trip to the doctors to give some blood so that they can match your blood type up to possible donors.

This charity is very well organised and make you feel very welcome when you apply to be a possible donor, I would recommend that everyone who can join the register for donating, http://www.anthonynolan.org.uk/donating/how-to-join-the-register.htm

Here is some information from the Anthony Nolan trust website news release:

Terminally ill journalist Adrian Sudbury has met Gordon Brown to kick start a national campaign in schools to educate young people about becoming bone marrow donors.

Adrian, aged just 26, has been battling with leukaemia for the past 18 months and in a devastating blow has been told by doctors that he only has weeks to live. Despite his diagnosis, brave Adrian has been lobbying for better education on bone marrow donation and has already met with Health Secretary Alan Johnson and Schools Secretary Ed Balls to discuss the issue.

Adrian said that his 20 minute meeting with Gordon Brown was very productive and the Prime Minister was very supportive of his campaign. Adrian hopes that information on bone marrow donation will be made part of the curriculum.

Adrian commented “The big problem in our country with bone marrow donation is that it’s very poorly understood. It’s believed to be a horrific procedure. But the reality is very different to that’

Adrian’s award winning blog has received international notoriety, and his campaign has touched the hearts of people across the world.

Alex Frazier, spokeswoman for the Anthony Nolan Trust, said:

The Anthony Nolan Trust wholeheartedly supports Adrian’s call to raise awareness in schools and colleges. Currently thousands of patients are anxiously waiting to find a suitably matched bone marrow donor and not enough has been done to educate people about the benefits of donation.

It’s a fantastic and crucial achievement that Adrian has enlisted the support of Gordon Brown, Alan Johnson and Ed Balls. Adrian has shown great courage throughout his illness, and this campaign epitomises Adrian’s fighting spirit and determination to help others have a chance of life.

The Anthony Nolan Trust is currently searching to find bone marrow donors for 16,000 patients worldwide. People waiting for a bone marrow donor have few other options, if any so we urge more young people to find out what’s involved.

The Football season is over

paisley-abbey-logos

Now that the football season is over for the time being we are looking to replace the St Mirren news feed at the bottom of the main paisley.org.uk webpage whilst the team take a break.

Are you a budding journalist or do you have possibly a weekly story to talk about our town, or have a blog that talks about all things positive in our town (note the word positive) so that it could fill the void left by the St Mirren latest news? If you do then please get in touch and we shall discuss what we can do next..
