Skoobs to brighten up Renfrewshire libraries.

Kids in Renfrewshire will get a colourful surprise the next time they go to the library.

The Skoobs, a group of playful monsters, will brighten up Renfrewshire libraries in a bid to get more kids to join their local library.

From 6 October, kids who join the library will receive a special Skoobs passport and goodies every time they visit.

They will also receive a special certificate if they complete three SuperSkoob challenges – book reading, fact finding and treasure hunting.

Kids will be encouraged to take part in the wide variety of activities on offer, including Bookbug, help with homework, arts and crafts sessions and the toy library.

Councillor Stuart Clark, Depute Convener of the Education Policy Board, said: “It’s vital that our libraries are attractive and engaging places for younger children to come and learn. The bright and colourful characters should be a big draw to youngsters.

“Our libraries are not only places to find a good book, children can also get help with their homework, learn how to get online in a safe environment and even develop their creative skills through arts and crafts.

“Visiting the library is a good way to boost confidence and develop social skills. We’ve got lots of activities taking place – from Bookbug to the toy library. There’s a wide variety for everyone no matter what the interest is.”

Kids can join the library by filling in a form at their local library or online at www.renfrewshirelibraries.co.uk.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
