Midge Ure Live at Paisley at Town Hall

Midge ure

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Last night Midge Ure performed live at Paisley Town Hall and quite literally it was one of the best gigs ever performed in Paisley. One member of the audience said that this was his 6th Midge Ure gig and it was definitely the best.

Paisley Town Hall was sold out days before the doors opened with people coming from far afield, one couple even came from Norway.

From the get go Midge was on fire and he had the crowd in the palm of his hand, the Old New Romantic charmed the crowd who at points were up dancing in the aisles. Midge was putting so much into it he even broke the strings on his guitar.

The organisers LNP Promotions were blown away by how well Paisley has responded to the two big gigs they have put on this month, Eddi Reader with her Vagabond Tour and now with Midge Ure who recently brought out a brand new single after 12 years absence.

LNP Promotions will now take stock and hopefully next year they will be bringing some more amazing acts to the town.

Paisley Music Week

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]

Paisley Music Week

Thank you for your interest in becoming part of Paisley Live. The event will bring local music and arts organisations together with around 100 acts in over 35 venues creating a week-long festival in Paisley. The vision is to restore Paisley’s reputation as a live music town and help rebuild the town centre as a visitor destination.

We plan to make Paisley Live appeal to a wide audience to include more artists and attract bigger crowds than ever before. From Opera to Punk Rock anything goes.

livemusicAs you are well aware Paisley town centre has been in decline for over two decades. This is an opportunity to do something about it and have some fun. The whole community will be involved looking to re energise the town both from a community spirit perspective and an economic one.

Paisley Live will bring many community groups together and will have direct and indirect impacts on the town through the opportunities it will provide in terms of; participation, skills development and volunteering. It will also have environmental and political impacts.

The benefit of the festival to the town can be extensive, particularly when the draw is from outside of the region. Local vendors, artisans, crafts people, restaurants, hotels and Bars will be busier than normal and may indeed make a large portion of their months’ income during the course of a week. High Street revitalization can also be a positive economic spin-off from the weeklong festival and special events.

This would be the template for an annual celebration of local music and a chance to invite performers from further afield and give them a positive feeling about our town.

ModStuff Paisley Photographs

ModStuff Paisley Photographs.

Paisley festival ModStuff was a complete success this weekend thanks to the LNP Promotions bringing some excellent bands such as The Laynes, Button Up, The Beatroots, The Responsible, The Beat Movement and The Underground Jam to the Bungalow Bar, Shuttle Street, Paisley.

All this as well as a fantastic Scooter Rally on the Saturday which saw up to 85 Mod Scooters taking part in a ride out in town made for a great atmosphere. With ModStuff running alongside The Spree and The Royal National Mod, Paisley has proved it can accommodate such diverse and major events.

The series of gigs & events was helping to raise funds for local charity Loud n’ Proud through LNP Promotions.

Here are some photographs from the various bands playing at the Bungalow Bar, all photographs were taken by Jean-Marie Stewart and kindly allowed for use on the website. You can find more of Jean-Maries Photographs by visiting her Flickr Photo Sets.

Kings Ov Leon

‘Kings_Ov_Leon’ have been rocking out the most prestigious theatres, festivals and music venues since the start of 2009 with their undeniably breathtaking show! __

The scale, energy and charisma of their performances leaving audiences across Europe sure they’ve seen the Kings Of Leon themselves! The Kings_Ov_Leon take you on an absolutely epic, exhilarating journey playing your favourite KOL tracks from the first release “The Holy Roller Novocaine” through to the incredible number one album “Come Around Sundown”, all with unprecedented accuracy __

It’s this meticulous attention to detail; visually and audibly, that’s earned them rave reviews from press, critics and audiences alike. Hearing really is believing! But the uncanny resemblance doesn’t end there! Like the Followills there’s brotherly chemistry between lead guitarist Mark Eyden (Matthew Followill) and Dan Eyden (Jared Followill), the unmistakeable voice of Caleb bellowing eerily from Liam Coffey and the juxtaposed pounding rhythm and sweet harmonies of the bands ‘Nathan‘, Ant Wheeler.

All the guys have their own long history of professional success. In 1999, as a young teenager, Mark was signed to record label giants Polydor after winning BBC1s ‘Get Your Act Together’ in the band ’Marlo’ with what was the biggest ever national phone vote. He went on to tour extensively including a performance in front of 50,000 fans at ‘Party in the Park’ and had a charting single release.

Ant drummed professionally for numerous bands including the Towers of London and Wilkento. Dan, the youngest of the band at 21, fronted ‘Perfect Confusion’ and is a prolific song writer in his own right. Liam is the most recent to join the band. He has a long history of live performance in both original and covers bands including the epic ‘No Quarter’. He’s completed the line up and brought along with him a truly charismatic and authentic edge!

The Kings Ov Leon’s dogged determination to push the boundaries of what you’d expect of a tribute band sees them return to venues time after time. They’ve played literally hundreds of gigs and been championed by Signal Radio, XFM, The Stage and even the Kings Of Leon!

Notable venues include Tribfest – Europe’s biggest tribute festival, Marvellous Festival, a huge O2 Academy headline tour and the Ministry of Sound. The Kings Ov Leon carry a full professional PA system and lighting rig. Naturally all the guitars, drums, cymbals, amps and pedals are identical to their counterparts! How close can a tribute band get? The name says it all!

Whos Who

Whos WhoSince their humble beginnings in West London in 1996 to now; Who’s Who, the longest established Who Tribute Show in the UK, have received incredible reactions across Europe and beyond for their exciting live performances. Pete Townshend’s leaping and Roger Daltrey’s microphone whirling antics have all but transformed the standard of tribute shows and set a benchmark within the industry for others to follow. Widely recognised and respected by their musical peers and acknowledged by members of (and those close to) The Who, as the group that most interprets the songs of Pete Townshend and the legendary live performances of The Who with honesty and integrity. Giving nothing less than 100% during a performance, Who’s Who ensure that a night to remember is guaranteed for those people who are lucky enough to be able to attend.

Fans of the band include Simon Townshend (The Who), Doug Sandom (The Detours), Peter “Dougal” Butler (Keith Moons’ right hand man), John Schollar (Beachcombers), Alison Entwistle and the Moon Family.

Singer Gary, has been personally praised by Pete Townshend and he also played at The Who Convention in Shepherds Bush in 1995, with Roger Daltrey and the late John Entwhistle.

The Keith Moon Blue Plaque Reception at The Grosvenor Hotel in Mayfair, London in 2009, saw Zak Starkey watch the entire set, completely transfixed by the incredible authenticity and timing of bass player Terry Wyatt; prompting Zak to single him out for the kind of praise that only members of a rhythm section can truly understand, but coming from the son of Beatle, all the more memorable.

Drummer Paul “Moonie” Kemp bears an uncanny resemblance to the late great Keith Moon and prides himself on complete authenticity when drumming styles and kit specification is concerned. The kit(s) he plays are completely identical to the original spec, all the way down to the nuts and bolts that hold it together and represent a labour of love with regard to sourcing and application. He’s very close to the Moon family and is a familiar visitor for the odd cup of tea at Kit’s house. A complete “one off” on the live circuit, his explosive application to the style of Keith Moon, has to be seen to be believed; there is no need to “close your eyes” with him!

Between the members of the band, they have three International Who Conventions under their belt, including the first ever airing to an audience of Quadrophenia at the 2006 event, which led Simon Townshend to declare, “What an absolutely brilliant band Who’s Who are!” They celebrated the 40th anniversary of “Live at Leeds” in 2010, touring extensively and performing the whole of “Tommy” to audiences in the UK and Europe, amid critical acclaim and have now racked up five appearances at the Isle of Wight Festival (2006-2010, 2012).  Just this year, they played to over 10,000 people on Bournemouth beach, finishing off the weekend proceedings of the International Bournemouth Air Show.

With the raw power, passion and soul of the members that make up Who’s Who, these guys deliver far more than your average “run of the mill” band. Their longevity is testament to the reputation they have worked extremely hard for and as history rolls on; they have proved to be an essential ingredient to fans of The Who and their legacy, highlighting a void and illustrating just what The Who have left their fans and the music world. http://www.lnppromotions.co.uk/who-tribute-announced/
