#inspiredinpaisley Jam Session

#inspiredinpaisley Jam Session on 21st April at the College Bar, High Street, Paisley

Playing their first ever gig in Paisley Town Hall in 1987, Jod and the Pods are truly #inspiredinpaisley.

25 years on they hope to bring out Paisley’s talent and inspire others to play music in their home town by hosting a jam session, in the College Bar on the 21st April as part of #inspiredinpaisley. The #inspiredinpaisley movement was born out of the desire to celebrate Paisley talent around the time of Gerry Rafferty’s Birthday, the concept coming from local charitable organisation Loud n Proud. Made up of local musicians John (Jod) McCaffrey, Geoff Smith, Willie Duffy, Ted Mullen and local worthy Johnny (Mr )Carty the band members haven’t played on the same stage since 2007. On hearing of #inspiredinpaisley, in true Blues Brother’s style, it was time to put the band back together. The band started out as a Seventies covers band and amongst the first songs they learned was Stealer’s Wheel’s Stuck in the Middle. They played pubs and clubs till 1992 when they all went their separate ways playing in popular local bands such as Mistreated, Thunderstruck, Platinum Brunette and latterly, Swagger. Paisley has been missing a full blown electric jam session for some time now and the band feels this may inspire the re-instatement of a regular event.

A representative of the band said,
“The #inspiredinpaisley concept has given us the perfect opportunity to get back on the stage together and hopefully encourage local talent out for the day. Having played the local circuit for many years in many of the same venues as other local bands, we know there are plenty of musicians and singers out there in Paisley. We’re inviting anyone to either play or sing with the house band, or get up and do their own thing. All the gear will be there, drums, amps, guitars, p.a. system – just turn up. We’ll be making music from 3pm till 6pm. We’re grateful to Stacy in the College Bar for allowing us the use of the venue for the afternoon and to the #inspiredpaisley guys for inspiring us to play together again.”
