A898 Erskine Bridge
Installation of tower aircraft navigation lighting
As part of a £3.25m investment by Transport Scotland to upgrade lighting on the A898 at Erskine Bridge, weekend works at the top of the two Bridge towers will commence on Saturday 17 September.
Principal Contractor, Lightways will access the towers to replace the existing aircraft navigation lamps with new LED lights. Operatives will be working at heights of 40 metres above the bridge deck therefore to protect both the workforce and road users, offside lane closures will be required in both directions on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 September and again on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 September 2016. Traffic management will be in operation from 6.00am to 6.00pm each day.
It is expected that journey times will increase by approximately 45 minutes and road users are advised to plan ahead using Traffic Scotland’s WEBSITE and TWITTER feed for real time traffic information.
Scotland TranServ is currently overseeing the 28 week programme which will result in up to 70% in energy savings for Transport Scotland.
Operating company representative for Scotland TranServ, Andy Fraser said:
“We have considered all the available options for carrying out this work and the safest way for the contractor to access the towers and install the new lighting is during daylight hours under offside lane closures.
“Delays are expected to be around 45 minutes therefore we would urge road users to plan ahead and leave plenty of time for their journeys.”
The cycle and pedestrian lanes on the eastbound side of the Bridge will remain closed during the works with the westbound side operating as normal.

1877 Supporters Club Initiative – Saturday 10th September

paisley-abbey-logos

The 1877 Supporters Club is offering FREE entry for members’ guests this Saturday and reduced admission for non-members.
As a result of feedback that many members will be unable to attend this Saturday’s match due to holidays, we plan to create an initiative to encourage more use of the club this weekend.
The biggest incentive is free entry for members’ guests which as always has to be pre-booked to allow us to monitor our numbers. In addition we will also allow non-members entry for a reduced fee of £3 based on a first come, first served basis on the day.
For non-members to guarantee their place they need to pre-book by e-mailing supportsmfc@hotmail.co.uk. Please note walk-ins are subject to capacity.
This is very much a try and see initiative with the aim of getting better numbers using the bar prior to the two televised derbies in Glasgow and Manchester kicking off at 12:00pm and 12:30pm.
The club will open early at 11:45am due to the early kick-offs.

Match Day Competitions – Queen of the South Game

paisley-abbey-logos

Paisley Panda will be a busy mascot at this Saturday’s match with the return of the popular half-time competition ‘Bung a Baw’.
To take part fans need to purchase a small foam ball which is numbered and they will then have a chance to throw their ball towards our club mascot Paisley Panda in front of the Family Stand. Each person will have 60 seconds to do this and the winner will be the person who has thrown the ball closest to the feet of the Panda with the winner being confirmed over the PA system.
The competition is sponsored by The Linwood Farm Restaurant who are supplying a family meal voucher as the prize for the contest winner.
Each ball will cost £1 to buy. The balls will be available from sellers inside the Family Stand in the 30 minutes leading up to kick-off and then again in the first 5 minutes of half time before the competition starts (subject to availability). Each ball is numbered and participants will also get a ticket with the corresponding number which they will use to claim the prize if they win.
There will also be a new competition called ‘SPOT PRIZES‘. All Season Ticket holders and anyone who buys a ticket for Saturday’s match against Queen of the South before the St Mirren Ticket Office closes on Friday (2:00pm), will be entered into a prize draw.
On the 30th and 60th minute of the match a seat will be selected at random which will be displayed on the scoreboard with the winners each receiving a family munchy box (4 slush puppies, 4 hot dogs, 4 ice creams and 6 packets of traditional sweets) from Tasty Treats of Bridge of Weir.

Man of the Match – Live Vote

paisley-abbey-logos

We are giving fans the opportunity to vote for the man of the match and also put two lucky fans in with the chance of winning a £10 voucher for the Club Shop.
Every home game we’ll throw open the voting on the 60 minute mark for 20 minutes where votes can be cast on Facebook and Twitter. All you have to do is use the hashtag #SMFCMOM followed by the name of the player you are voting for, eg ‘#SMFCMOM MALLAN’.
With 10 minutes of the game remaining all the votes will be counted then Stadium Announcer Phil Clark will confirm the winning player over the tannoy system.
From all the fans who nominate the winning player one will be picked at random from the Facebook account and another from the Twitter account and they will each be awarded a £10 voucher for the Club Shop. The winners will be notified through the account they posted from.
So get yourself ready on the hour mark of Saturday’s game against Queen of the South and get voting with #SMFCMOM.

* – Please note that the South Stand is a family stand and therefore we expect no swearing within this stand. In the past we have had complaints from family groups and potentially new supporters about the language their children were subjected to. We will therefore be working closely with the Police and stewards to discourage this type of behaviour in order that the good work we are doing with local schools encouraging them to support the Club is not wasted. Please assist the Police and stewards by pointing out anyone who participates in unacceptable language.
** – Proof of unemployed status must be shown when purchasing a match day ticket.
# – The ‘Wheelchair user’ ticket is only available to purchase directly from the Ticket Office, it is not available on the Online Ticket Shop.
Please note that with our ticketing system that all tickets purchased are now printed with a row and seat number, therefore if you want to purchase a specific seat you can only do so up until the close of business the day before each match. This is to keep the queues outside to a minimum on matchday.
—————————————————————————————————————————————————————-
Electronic Ticketing System
At the Paisley 2021 Stadium we have an electronic ticketing system installed by Interstadia in place at the turnstiles.
The process of using the system is fairly straight-forward and easy to use:
* On entering the turnstile you will see the ticket reader (see picture above).
* Place your match ticket (with the barcode facing upwards) or smartcard – into the aperture
* Once the ticket/smartcard is accepted into the system the green light will illuminate and an audio alert will sound after which you should hear the turnstile being unlocked
* Push the turnstile gate and enter the stadium as you normally would.
The whole process will only take a few seconds.
Please note that there will be stewards in attendance to help where required.

How to Get Here
For directions to the Paisley 2021 Stadium and all the parking information please click HERE.
—————————————————————————————————————————————————————-
Car Park Access
We have a limited amount of spaces available in section Black and section White of the Car Park.  These spaces – which will be sold on a game by game basis – are available at £4 each with tickets for the spaces on sale at the Car Park gate.
—————————————————————————————————————————————————————-
Street Parking On A Match Day
The Club has been made aware of problems occasioned by inconsiderate parking in the area of Tannahill Road.
Seemingly supporters are parking despite the presence of double yellow lines and as a consequence local bus routes are also being blocked because streets in this area are narrow and fans are parking on both sides. People, many of whom are elderly, are having to walk from Greenhill Road to their homes because buses can’t get access.
Residents who have cars parked in driveways are experiencing similar difficulties getting their vehicles in and out. On being approached by local residents some supporters have been somewhat aggressive which could lead to confrontation.
St Mirren Football Club strives to be a good neighbour and we would ask that ALL supporters attending the stadium not only park in accordance with local parking restrictions but also give consideration to the needs of local residents by parking sensibly so as not to occasion an unnecessary obstruction.
—————————————————————————————————————————————————————-
Picking Up & Dropping Off by Car on Match Day
We are also aware of problems with patrons parking at the front of the Main Stand to pick up disabled supporters at the end of the game. This area is a ‘no parking’ zone on match days (with cones on the road) and has to be kept clear for emergency access. It is an inappropriate location for disabled spectator uplifts, as not only does it cause an obstruction on the road, it also causes a danger to pedestrians leaving the stadium.
Please note that the designated pick-up/drop off points are either in Drums Avenue or the two lay-byes on Ferguslie Park Avenue.
