Weatherseal Community Heroes Fund

From day centres to outreach projects and from Bathgate to Inverclyde, many community groups and organisations have benefited from bursaries through Weatherseal. Today we will take a look at just a handful of them below. Remember the Community Heroes fund is open to the Renfrewshire area until the end of this week and will be continuing across Scotland over the coming months. You can fill in the simple application form here.

St Michael’s Day Care Centre is based in Linlithgow and provides breakfast, a 3 course lunch, transport, therapeutic activities and most importantly a safe, friendly environment for frail, elderly disabled people in the area. They celebrated their 25th Anniversary by receiving £500 to buy new resources for the centre and allow them to vary the daily activities on offer.

Some mothers from Fauldhouse Playgroup contacted the bursary as they were really struggling due to lack of funds. They were awarded £500 to help throw a Christmas party for the children as well as buy new toys and arts and crafts equipment.

Yorkhill Children’s Hospital radio station was raising money for an audio system within the children’s intensive care unit as they are not allowed radios in this section. Paul Harper from Real Radio was making a guest appearance on the station in early December and took the opportunity to announce a donation of £500 from the bursary towards the fund raising effort.

These are just a few of the success stories that have resulted from previous Weatherseal bursary programmes and will hopefully give an idea of how they could help you with your community group or organisation. For more information visit the community.weatherseal.co.uk and get applying!
