02 Its your Community Award : If you could change one thing about where you live, what would it be? Turning derelict land into a playground. Planting trees where none grew before. Creating a wildlife pond where there was once a puddle. Turning an abandoned building into an arts centre for young people... It's Your Community is a new awards programme to help people come together to make a real difference to the communities in which we live.

‘Paisley on the Web’ is a community website that has been set up by Brian McGuire to improve the image of the town.  It was developed by Brian as a hobby but now has over 5 volunteers who man the site attracting 3-4,000 visits a day.  The town of Paisley in Renfrewshire has had its share of bad press and this new website has been a great stimulant to opening up discussions on town issues.  It has also had the positive effect of getting people together to solve problems and link socially.  At the moment they need further development money if they are going to continue providing an outlet for information, learning and the airing of alternative views.  This It’s Your Community will pay for a new laptop and camera to help keep Paisley on the Web online and on track!
