Me & My Dad:

Sent in by one of our Visitors "Rebecca".

This is a beautiful poem written recently by my young sister, Linda.
Our Dad will no doubt be able to read this, but, maybe not soon, because he has recently been diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease.
Thank You, Rebecca

Me & My Dad
Off the sideboard you made us jump,
Parachute training I didn't grump,
Knees bent feet to-gether,
Rain or snow in any weather.

Up the park Dad with the kite,
Run, run with all your might,
Home exhausted, off to bed,
I always was a sleepy head.

Remember that first car you had,
The light blue Fiat, remember Dad ?
Many a trip we would take
Singing out loud, for goodness sake.

Holiday time at whitley Bay,
We had fun all the day,
Sea, sand, bucket and spade,
Big sand castles, my Daddy made.

Up the Braes was our Special place,
running,skipping, or having a race,
Picking brambles,raspberries too,
Hand in hand, stuck like glue.

Now and again we would sing,
the songs you love to hear,
Eidlewiess and Green,green grass
Or was it Doh a deer .???

Sarurdays were our busy days,
Tidy your room, pick up your claes,
That is the roar I'd hear fae you
Sometimes you were a Dragon too.

Laughing eyes and the Greatest smile,
I'd sit and watch you for a while,
Dancing feet you did not have,
But, loving Arms, I did not starve.

I'd finish school and meet you at work,
No hanging around, we didn't lurk,
Homeward bound we were able,
For Mum had dinner on the table.

Oh, the memories I have as a child,
Most of them good, some of them wild,
All the time you were there,
Things to do, things to share.

A Dad in a Million , you'll always be,
I've got wonderful memories, don't you see,
This poem is from me to you,
Cos, I really loves Ya, yes, I really do.

Lots of Love, Kisses and cuddles.
Linda.
