Hello fellow Buds.

This story related to Johnstone, our near neighbour, not Paisley. But Im sure everyone is familiar with the place Im talking about.

Anyway,in the late 70's or early 80's,my Mum's cousin worked for a time in the Benston service station,on the Beith Road in Johnstone.

During the time she worked there, the owners had a pet LION!!Yes,a lion. The poor beast was kept chained to a post at the back of the garage, until one fateful day,it actually hung itself, from a tree or nearby fence post.

This is a 100% true story, and I often recount this tale to friends/accquiantances.

I think maybe some Johnstone people could have pics bud,not sure.I dont imagine my Mum's cousin has any.She was only a young lassie at the time, and was probably scared s***less heheheh.

I did used to work at Stoddard Carpets,a few years back. And I remember a few of the guys in there verifying the story.

Doj,I can remember a lion being there, though I never actually saw it
My late hubby worked in Johnstone for a time and his aunties lived there,so we were always visiting.
Terrible though that the poor beast HANGED itself, dont remember hearing about that
