it is with sadness that i see we are loosing another landmark which is currently under demolition !!! blackhall court is being demolished i write this this now

today was a visit to renfrew to witness a little piece of histoy watching the river cart returning to how it used to be watching the bascule bridge being opened to let a barge past at over 60 m in length and 14 m wide and weighing in at 500 tonnes,this was a cabel laying carousel heading to rotterdam on it's very first job laying undersea cables for windfarms and what a sight it was,the bascule bridge it's self was built in 1923 and remains one of the last fully functional drawbridge style bridges in the u.k and has recently benefited from a £1.4 million pound overhall from renfrewshire council

wow!! i didnt realise when the bridge had been restored, the workings had also been done. ive never ever seen it raised so thanx for sharing the pics westender! (typical that the one friday i dont go to pets at home they raise the bridge! grr! lol!)

Westender,pics were brill,and video with the beautiful music,just said it all:cheer: I'll give you another Karma,when 6 hrs are upLaughing
I used to live up Laighpark,at top of Abercorn St,and we walked over swing bridge to St James School!
Seemingly that bridge could move also? Do you know of any old photographic info,where I could see this?
