There are 3 pubs on that block. The Western Bar, then Maxwellton Bar and round corner was Jolly Beggars. Maxwellton has closed but other 2 are still there.

Corner of Ferguslie Walk was the Bakers and Post Office, after the tenements it was a church building of some kind had a mans name and I cant remember what it was(its since demolished) then McDowalls the butchers (still there)St Marys and Priests house.
I came into this world with nothing and I've still got most of it left

my memory only goes back to the 80's in paisley's west end and i lived above goudies the plumbers(used to be an old church in argyle street and i swear it was haunted), it's gone now and they build.....you guessed it FLATS, also remember the big apple amusements at top of queen street, many a night playing pool in there when i should have been doing homework and i think there was a post office in wellmeadow or well street cant remember the name of that street now.

We all have good memories, the cobblers was McLaughlins I think there was 2 in the area other one was Reids which moved to Wellmeadow. I have a feelng there was a womans dress shop beteewn West & Maxwellton same side as cobbler could see these shops from my window in Maxwellton street then of course Isa Cochrane's and Maxwellton Bar. Original Jolly Beggars(Charlie Crooks) was on corner of Maxwellton Street Slaters butchers was on other. Bakers I don't know the name of we called him Cluggie next to Jolly Beggars and Tom Jardines. 2 pawn shops between maxwellton St and Queen one called jennie's went there every Monday morning before school at St mary's had to ask for 1 pound and sixpence Jenny gave me 1 pound and half a penny so i bought broken crisps from the butcher near Queen St

Canal St

Alex Shaw builder next to that was Jimmy Crangle I lived straight across from him in 74 Canal great place to play. anybody remember the brokies in canal?? next to McCormicks pen where they kept I think horses

cross Lady Lane you had Lamonts dairy going towards Camphill there was Mr Campbells shop he sold nearly everything
