On a normal Saturdy morning supporters of the OLD FIRM Rangers and Celtic made their way to Ibrox Stadium as they did ever Ne'erday or to Parkhead it was the rival football match. Everyone thought how many will be arrested today how many will end up in fights and is it safe to go shopping in Glasgow.
From what I can recall it was freezing and I went to the Regal in they afternoon can't even remember what I saw but one thing that stands out in my mind was the headlines on the placards as we came of the Regal IBROX DISASTER we asked what had happened Celtic scored a goal with a minute left to play the Rangers fans left then heard another goal it was a draw they started to go back but everyone was trying to leave by now and people got caught up and it was a Disaster.
We then went to Storrie street and found out 2 people dead then we went home and Mum & Dad were both upset I started to get alarmed as I knew people supporter from both teams who would be there. So off I went to the Watermill at night with the usual bunch of friends and noticed someone was missing I must have looked glum them someone said to me its okay he's working. I just burst into tears and a few other girls did too.
However 66 people lost their lives on stairwell 13 I can still see the faces of the players and manager Willie Waddell and Jock Stein as they attended the funerals.
Today we pray for the families who may still be suffering the loss of a Father,Mother Brother Sister Son Daughter Aunt or Uncle or Friends and we hope that they all celebrate the life of the loved ones they lose 39 years ago. I won't forget that day. Also for the lucky one who survived. Alice

I was at that match Alice with my brother and cousin.Scenes still vivid in my mind.We had to walk home from Ibrox as there were no buses running. And when we arrived home got into trouble from my Dad for talking so long to get home.Never thought of phoning him to let him know we were okay.

Yes terrible accident.

Sorry, but ive only just spotted this post!!
My thoughts are also with family and friends of those who lost loved ones on that tragic day.
I remember where I was as well,in Bruces mums in Glenburn Cres when news came on telly,Elizabeth was only two yrs old then,I remember it so vividly.
Our first thoughts were for our neighbour Wullie Inglis who lived beside us in Foxbar and was a true Rangers supporter,we could just hope and pray he was alright.
We were so relieved when we got back to Foxbar that night to find him safe and sound with his family.
