Easy one for me Phillips Street was in what is now known as seedhill area of town the street joined cochran street and dixon street was off it too it would have looked on to the old quarry and kilnside house.

If you magine standing at mill street today and looking across the park the bowling club is to the left, tannery to the right and Phillips street would have been facing you.

hope this helps a littleWink

phillips street is now where the lower half of cochrane street is today

Hi everyone,
Thanks for your kind reply, the last time i was in Paisley it was in the early 50s and at that time i did not know that my Grandfather was born their. It was only by haveing a look at the National Archives records i managed to find out some information about his life and family in Paisley, later to night i will post some more info about his family in the hope some distant reletive may make some comment i hope you dont mind.
I have traced his life from when he enlisted in the Army to his resting place in Belgium. His name is on the Ploegsteert War Memorial in Belgium.
