I have been monitoring the site for the last few weeks regarding posts. With over a million hits last month I`m very suprised that it`s the same usual posters.

With people in my street who can tell me everything written here online and also folks down the town can see the website and never comment on it via the messageboard...

My question to them is!!! Why don`t you post an introduction on the website? Commenting to me on the street is of no use..

USE YOUR TOWN WEBSITE!!!

That`s what it`s here for!!!

With most posts I have been writing recently I have left them in an opened position asking other people what they think of a certain subject!!!

However!!! If I told you there was a free butter mountain at the local community centre there is plenty of posts of folk wanting to know where to get the free butter!!!

I`m leaving the message open!!!

Why not introduce yourself as a new member to the site and help continue adding posts??

After all Everyone living in Paisley types the word Paisley into google as soon as they get the internet at home!!!

Come on now!! Stop hiding and start posting!! Youll do your town some good in the long run!!!

Hi Vic - interesting post. When you speak to your neighbours and friends who can tell you what has been said on the website, do you not ask them to post? Alternatively do you ask them why they don't post?

Perhaps people are shy of putting their thoughts down in black and white, or even worried in case they make spelling mistakes (we all do that at times so there is no need to be afraid).

Cheers - JeanetteG

PS - where is all this free butter you talk about?

Interesting post, At least we know how many people are reading whats on the site and that for me is great as it means all the time we put into posts and pictures and stories is not going to waste.

There should be no pressure in new users posting, i myself was registered here previously under another user name and hardly posted on site it wasn't until months later that i came back in and started posting and haven't looked back

Ive got my butter churns and hiking boots ready for when the location of the butter mountain is announced

I must admit I would be one of those lurkers at times.. I dont lurk I merely read posts generated by users and like any of the websites I frequent.. BBC, Engadget, Lifehacker, Gizmodo and tons more I dont always log in and reply but waste my time away reading lol..

I do love coming into this website as there is such a varied amount of posts and content in it from all the contributers "and i an not being biased lol"

even just now I have the website loaded and I am watching "am i pidgeholing myself here lol" the gadget show.. lol

The majority of regular members "lurked" for a long time before actually joining and posting messages.

I know I did and after several months I joined in and never looked back.

I lurk most day!! I can look in during my lunch break but as we are monitored by IT I am not allowed to log in.

Good to see people on the street are talking about the site, if they feel strongly enough about something then maybe they will join in the debate.

If they just want to look in and enjoy the forum, photos etc then thats fine, however they should not be hasseling you Vic on any matters, thats when you should tell them to join in and have their say.

I think its a great forum with a good variety of topics, some fun, some serious but most of all very knowledgeable and helpful, great friendships have been struck up here, long lost relations re-united, friends traced, and a friendly bunch of folk who are not afraid to speak their minds when required and who go out of their way to help folk outside the area get info/photos etc.

Keep up the good work all of you, we'd be lost without you.
I came into this world with nothing and I've still got most of it left

Sorry for taking so long at posting back!! I was filling up the deep freezer with butter lol..

The replies have been very beneficial and hope it breaks the ice for some shy people to make up an account and say hello on the forum..

Make an account up and say hello!! It`s all good!!!

Have we had anybody posting from Russia or Turkey or Japan and china yet?

I remember we had a littl visitor map that showed all our visitors..

Is the clustermap still setup and working?
