I really wish Anne would get a bit more involved after all she is the person who wants to know where the photo was taken. I have just had lunch with some friends one being Scottish (from Prestwick) but she went to Glasgow University but she has never heard of Wick Street but knew Ingram Street was in the City Centre.

I have gone over all the roads they could have taken from Paisley to Govan would have to be main road unless someone knew all the back streets, but as far as I am concerned it was definately Duke street shows and the photo was taken around Espedair Street/Stock street or Orr strret or South Campbell street before all the tenements were bulldozed. there is a problem with the viewing of the karma button i have tried several things to fix it but at the moment we are just going to have to put up with it for another week or so until i do the big redesign...

as for people getting kicked off, the website shouldnt do that whatsoever, there is a limit for security reasons and then people will be logged out this is incase people leave their pc logged in and someone else can access it, the server does have some issues but no more than any other.

www.paisley.org.uk/active should always get you to the site, some people may have to change their actual bookmarks to this and this alone which should hopefully (fingers crossed) help out

hope this helps lol

Here is another true tale, this time from my Dad.

In his younger days,as was the trend at the time,my old man and a crowd of pals would go to one of Paisley's "picture houses"on a Saturday afternoon.

On the said day, just as the film was about to roll, and the lights were dimming, one of my Dad's pals produced a ww2 air raid siren, complete with wind up handle, and proceeded to wind the thing up!!Obviously, the film was stopped, and police were called etc.The lads were then lined up,to ascertain who the offender was!!

Again,100% true.

I think maybe some Johnstone people could have pics bud,not sure.I dont imagine my Mum's cousin has any.She was only a young lassie at the time, and was probably scared s***less heheheh.

I did used to work at Stoddard Carpets,a few years back. And I remember a few of the guys in there verifying the story.

Hello fellow Buds.

This story related to Johnstone, our near neighbour, not Paisley. But Im sure everyone is familiar with the place Im talking about.

Anyway,in the late 70's or early 80's,my Mum's cousin worked for a time in the Benston service station,on the Beith Road in Johnstone.

During the time she worked there, the owners had a pet LION!!Yes,a lion. The poor beast was kept chained to a post at the back of the garage, until one fateful day,it actually hung itself, from a tree or nearby fence post.

This is a 100% true story, and I often recount this tale to friends/accquiantances.

Hi OLL I clicked on your link, then tried to drag to the left without success - think it moved about a half inch. Ingram Street runs between Queen Street and Glassford Street running parallel to Argyle Street.

I wonder if the powers that be would rename Ingram Street Govan as Wick Street, then use the Ingram name for the one in the centre of Glasgow. I can very vaguely mind my Mother talking about reading in the papers that Glasgow had supposedly run out of street names.

Perhaps Anne can throw some light on where Wick Street is situated. When I spoke of the Braehead bus, I meant the Braehead in Glenburn. JG
