Refurbishment works will start in two Renfrewshire primary schools this summer as part of a continuing programme to improve local schools.

West Primary School in Paisley will undergo extensive works to refurbish the building’s roof and windows, while Inchinnan Primary School will have its existing electrical wiring system replaced and CCTV installed.

The refurbishment works were approved at Council’s Finance, Resources and Customer Services Policy Board and are part of a programme of maintenance and improvement works for Renfrewshire schools.

Local firm Clark Contracts Limited were approved as the successful bidders to carry out both refurbishments.

Young people looking to get into construction work will also benefit as the two projects will involve a number of work and graduate placements.

Education and Children’s Services Convener for Renfrewshire Council, Councillor Jim Paterson, said: “We have a continuous programme of investment in our schools that ensure our children and young people have the best possible learning environment.

“Work on both schools will start during the summer, with electrical works at Inchinnan Primary School expected to be complete by the new school term, and external works at West Primary School expected to be complete in spring 2019.”
