Entry to primary schools in the Renfrewshire Council area occurs once a year, at the start of the new session in August.

Only children whose fifth birthday falls between 1 March 2018 and 28 February 2019 will automatically be admitted to school.

Parents may make a request for early entry to school for a child whose fifth birthday falls after the appropriate latest date.

Pupils should be registered on Wednesday 10 January 2018 (surnames A-L) and on Thursday 11 January 2018 (surnames M-Z).

Registration will take place at the child’s preferred school between 1.00pm and 3.00pm.

Parents can make a placing request for their child to attend a primary school other than their catchment school, although all requests must be in by 15 March 2018.

Councillor Jim Paterson, Convener of Renfrewshire Council’s Education and Children’s Services Policy Board, said: “We’re striving to give every child the best start in life, regardless of their background, and a high-quality education will go a long way to making this happen.

“Make sure you register your child for the appropriate school as they take their first steps into the exciting world of learning.”
