Home renovations can be a fun and enjoyable (albeit expensive) past time if you’re the creative type that likes to work on projects! It can be a very worthwhile task to go around each room in your house one-by-one and work your way around renovating each one. Once you’ve done your bedrooms, kitchen, living rooms and bathrooms, there’s potentially the biggest room in the house just waiting to be remodelled and repurposed – your attic! Your attic can be an untapped room for creativity in your home and shouldn’t be overlooked. In today’s modern world of design there’s plenty of inspiration to be found regarding how you can use your attic in new and useful ways. If your attic is sat gathering dust, read on for some of the best ways to alter your loft space.

Chill Out
An attic is a great place to get away from the rest of the house and the rest of the family. As it is so far away from the rest of the house, it can often be very quiet and a place of solace from the hustle and bustle of family life! With this in mind, a perfect use for your attic is to repurpose it into a chill out zone for anyone that needs it. This can be for you and your partner, or even the kids if they need a quiet place to read or do homework. This is very open to interpretation so you can get super creative with this! Why not fit a plush carpet to the floor to make a super comfortable layer, and then fill the space with beanbags and huge pillows on the floor? This will also complement getting some large skylights put into the roof to give you a beautiful view of the sky, and will make the perfect chill out zone to listen to music or read in peace. If you’d prefer to keep this room more secluded too, you can fit a loft hatch instead of a large entrance way that will keep the room separate from the rest of the house.

Hobby Zone
If you’re particularly passionate about something, or possibly even run your own business, your attic can be a great work or hobby space as it allows you to dedicate an entire room to the task at hand and it separates this from the rest of your home. This means your dedicated room will be out the way for visitors or other family members and will be a private space! You can always make the space bigger with lots of skylights and lighting in order to help you practise your craft, and then start by fitting a desk to one wall or in a corner of the room to make the first part of the workspace. You can transform walls into mood boards or notice boards filled with important information and inspiration and then create a space dedicated to whatever you like doing in your spare time, whether it’s DJing, arts and crafts, photography or games!
