Top music and dance acts from across Paisley and Renfrewshire are set to take over intu Braehead on Friday 1 September with a fantastic day of free entertainment.

As part of the centre’s continued support for Paisley’s bid to be UK City of Culture 2021, intu Braehead will open its doors for talented local musicians and youth groups to show off their skills at a special Paisley 2021 Day.

Singing duo Mandulu & Hephzibah, singer-songwriter Matthew Gibb and Paisley band Clyde will entertain visitors and shoppers alongside performances by the award-winning Street Stuff youth scheme, community dance group Right2Dance and the Johnstone Phoenix Theatre Group.

Abhinaya Glasgow Dance Academy, who recently unveiled a stunning video in support of Paisley’s UK City of Culture 2021 bid, will also be on hand for a Bollywood Dancersize instruction.

The Paisley 2021 Day will also include a Paisley Music Week Showcase in collaboration with L’n’P Promotions, with a number of musicians performing during the afternoon.

Intu Braehead officially backed Paisley’s bid for UK City of Culture 2021 in October 2016 and the event highlights its continued support in promoting Paisley’s bid to the hundreds of thousands of people who pass through the mall every week.

Gary Turnbull, intu Braehead general manager, said: “We are delighted to support the Paisley bid by hosting such a fantastic event at intu Braehead, where local musicians and performers will have an opportunity to demonstrate the talent that Paisley is renowned for.”

Paisley 2021 bid director Jean Cameron said: “Creating showcases for our brilliant local talent is at the heart of Paisley’s bid to be UK City of Culture 2021. Teaming up with intu Braehead for the Paisley 2021 day offers a fantastic opportunity for some of the amazing musical and artistic performers from across Renfrewshire to perform in front of visitors to the shopping centre.”

The Paisley 2021 Day and Paisley Music Week Showcase will take place at intu Braehead on Friday 1 September from 1pm-8pm.
