Gavin Newlands, SNP MP for Paisley and Renfrewshire North, has responded to the announcement that the staff at Chivas Brothers in Paisley have voted to accept the management’s revised offer, thus preventing industrial action.

Over the past number of months, Mr Newlands has been working with the unions to try and secure the full consolidation of holiday pay from the Chivas Brothers management.

Gavin Newlands, SNP MP for Paisley and Renfrewshire North, said:

“I am pleased that Chivas have moved from their previous holiday pay stance thus allowing the Paisley workforce to accept the revised offer from the management and prevent industrial action locally.

“I have been working with the union on behalf of the local workforce and have been lobbying management to fully consolidate the holiday pay that the workers were not only entitled to, but promised.

“It is still disappointing that an agreement could not be reached with the workers in Kilmalid and as many of the Renfrewshire workforce transfer over to that site, it is something that has to be monitored.

“I am still incredibly disappointed that Chivas have decided to move from their operations in Renfrewshire and will continue to offer any assistance that I can to the local workforce during this period.”
