Paisley Pirates are back in action this weekend as they host Moray Typhoons, who make the long journey south to provide the opposition this Sunday at Braehead Arena (face off 6.00pm).

“Yes, it’ll be good to get back onto the ice for some competitive action,” said Coach Ian Turley. “Sometimes it’s good to get a weekend off, as it allows any of the boys carrying an injury an extra week to recover, but normally I’m looking for a game every weekend to keep us ticking over. I’ve got a lot of young players in the squad this year and they all want to be playing every week and getting ice time.”

He went on, “To compound the situation, this will be our last home game until a couple of weeks before Christmas, as Braehead has the Arena booked out for the whole of November, and the way the fixtures pan out, there will be no home games until December. It’s not ideal, we’d prefer to be getting a regular pattern of home fixtures, but that’s the way it’s working for us and when you don’t own your own rink you really aren’t in control of your own affairs. It’s not a complaint, it’s just the way it is.”

“So we’re hoping that with this being the last home game for a while, we’ll get a good attendance at the Moray game as it’ll be the last chance for many supporters to see the team in action until we’re into the festive season. It would be good to come away happy with a win, even better if we can do so in front of a good crowd! It will be a chance, too, for folk to start their Christmas buying early as we’ll have in stock replicas of our new jerseys which have had a great reaction from supporters, limited edition pucks, ski hats, and a whole bundle of new merchandise flying off our tables!”
